Lost idle!!!Help ~

Post by louiszhu »

It happened last night on my way home,I ignited the car without problem, but after I drove like 100 meters i realized that my rev is very low,it couldnt rev up when i hit the paddle, then 2 seconds later the engine cuts itself off...I tried to reignite the car many times, the nightmare just happened,it cant not maintain the idle.lol~the rev needle actually goes up when i ignite and then drops down to ZERO immediately~~~  damn it!I spent $90 to tow off my car. When I got home, its ridiculously back to normal...Today is sunday,I couldnt find any mechanics to fix it,so I just counting on u guys here can give me any idea whats wrong with my FTO.cheers

haha sorry

um its probably an problem with your stepper motor. as it would have been cold last night it would have been idling real low. i dunno how come the revs were still low when u were driving though. But have u found it revving high at idle on A hot day?

c if this helps too

+1

Stepping Motor....

I have unplugged mines for a few days to do some test and i had the same effect until i re-plugged it....

Basically if you rev the car high it stalls
if you driving and sometimes come to a stop the car stalls
using the A/C increase the stall because the load of the engine and no rev increase...

Basically the Stepping motor regulates the amount of air that enters the engine when the throttle body flap is closed....

its like a small bypass valve....

yep try spraying power lube (you can get from marine shop), Carb clearner or WD40 into the throttle body when the engine is idling..also while spraying open to full throttle and close so the stepping motor can engage.... spray a fair amount but don't empty the can in it....

you can spray in into any hose line before the butterfly.... lots of hose is on the intake manifold main hose thats the big black hose between the throttle body and air flow meter... just temporarily disconnect one the hoses...

dirty air filter or no air filter can lead to stepping motor being dirty.... make sure your air filter is cleaned/replaced time after time....

PS dont spray the Air Filter.... lol.......
