Clicking noise from dash

Post by mackin »

Hi, I have a '94 GR [non mivec] 2.0 V6, 4 spd tip.
Each time I start engine there is this repeatative clicking noise coming from behind centre of dash, it lasts about a minute.
I have tried to diagnose [turned access off, aerial is in back screen], ANY IDEAS ??

Can you describe the clicking a bit more? Is it fast or slow? Does it sound like a purr?

Have you tried getting out of the car with the bonnet open when you start it? Need to know where that noise is coming from. ;)

clicking noise

Hi Nacho, the noise is like a relay or ratchet, repeating about 80 / minute for approx 1 minute after start up.
Its coming from inside the cabin, behind the dash.
Thanks.

It sounds like the motor that switches between fresh and recirculated air is getting stuck, there might be a leaf or a bit of paper stuck in it. Try swapping between the two settings for a while and that might dislodge it.
LED ALL the things.

Hi mate.
You were right.
I turned on fan & switched from fresh to recycled air repeatedly.
Problem solved, Thanks.

mine has a noise as well, its hard to tell where its from , it sounds like a rapid fire clicking noise, its when im accelerating, it sounds like a plastic card wedged in a bicycle wheel hitting the stokes, but for me it makes that sound when i accelerate, when im looking straight on the road i can hear it to the left but when i accelerate and look to the left window, i can hear it to the right, so im guessing it could be in the dash or underneath the car itself, definitely not the back seatbelts rattling or coins, checkd a lot of things in the interior and nothing i could find, its not loud, but i noticed it when the music had a quiet passage coinciding with me accelerating. might be mechanical. maybe ? maybe not ? does anyone at all know about this ? :|
