Its 95% going to happen...
Its a joint project between me and my partner...
Cost wise, we're looking at getting the engine and sh*t done, then maybe even some sponsorship for paint/widebody/rims/audio....
Will definately look into the tube frame chassis then... i was thinking like tens of thousands for it.... And not Legal...
As far as cost goes, split between two people this should be much more managable.
We are paying off her debts first and should be done in a month or so... then eliminate mine down to a certain level before starting the purchasing process...

^get out of here you honda fanboy
(jks)
that 3d rendering looks f**king awesome, goodluck with the project.
certainly not what id be spending 70-80k on but kudos for doing something different. very true about the supra thing, there are so many supras out there with 500hp+ that it doesn't seem like such an achievement but doing it in an fto is completely different.

Errrr I did. But what is it exactly? From the brief description, it was something to hold your car together for high power and my google search gave me such a wide range of answers i thought i would ask here.I8A4RE wrote:Did you even read the first pageFerrus wrote:What is a tube frame chassis?![]()
I got;
It has tubes as part of its structure.
Its a chassis.
If you have nothing helpful to say, please refrain from pointless spam. Thank you.
@general public; Now anyway, just to give some depth to my question, does the tube frame chassis;
1)eliminates the need for a floorpan?
2)affordable?
3)legal for on road use?(within victoria)
4)does it have a rollcage-like structure(and is it necessary?)
I am not a car/engine guru nor do i understand simple car terms, so please bare with me. All i got is a dream which needs some facts to make it plausible. And dont mention money makes it work even though its true. Let a young pure heart dream...

@I8A4RE; nah, my bad, i was tired and ticked off, that night some random guy kept braking in front of me then veered to the side of my car trying to get me to race him.... i swear, there are no cops around when u actually need them...
edit: I shuld have a placard in my car saying "you're not worth the fuel"
And to my previous q's regarding affordability, is it less than $5k?

I have no idea how much but I doubt you would get any change from 5k. Benny posted up a company name, you should give them a call and find out.

Re: Brainstorming..... RWD'ing an FTO
well, i can think of a cheap(er) way of doing a rwd fto with the original fto engine and no diff.... make it a mid engine, mount in the boot/passenger seats... its a transverse engine (like most other mid engine rwd). obviously a lot of fabrication to the engine bay in the rear, nothing a grinder and welder cant do, make new engine mounts, and probs would need to a bit of work to conect the shaft from the tranny to the wheels. but u can use the same engine, all the money would be in fabrication... obviously its a whole lot harder to do than the way i put it. but correct me if im wrong, but in my (limited factual) opinion, just reverse the theory of front wheel drive/front engine to rwd/rear(or mid) engine.. and keeping the fto to its true roots. everyone wins
