good decision.

if i was after a 4door luxury car that would be up there on my list (staying strictly japanese though) what about a lexus SC400 (soarer)? i have four soarers in the family and they are remarkable cars, very luxurious and got some decent power with the turbo models.

only problem is the size of the doors (huuuuge) and if you have a small garage - good luck getting out of it.

I would say an S15 or something less sporty, late model (ish) 3 series (not the four cylinder ones..they suck)

The full licence you get after your P's is the silver licence.
I guess I meant silver license then. I also thought blacks was the correct term for full license.

Its a myth. A term that started around 10 years ago & seemed to have stuck because the silver band across the top of the silver licence could have been mistaken for black back then.

I think he was referring to about 10 years ago when they used to be silver and people mistook it for black.

He's refering to the Gold licence. Thats what you get when you survive your Silver for 3 years without loss of points.

Jesus, you kids need to read the history of the RTA licencing in NSW

Yes, silver licences are no longer issued, everyone goes straight onto a GOLD licence these days after your P's. The Sliver one was a number of years back.

And yes it looks yellow, but its called gold.

nsw is just a complicated place! lol...hmmm they've changed the act licences too coz i remember they use to say the licence grade on them (learner, probie, full or heavy)...think that was aimed at sorting out the colour bickering haha

if you can add a few grand to your budget id suggest an RX-8
ticks all the boxes, goes hard, very nice interior, newish, clean, looks good etc quick look on carsales and there are some decent ones for around 24k

i don't know much about rotaries but ive heard the rx8s are a lot more reliable than the rx7s

my mate just bought an rx8, he loves it but again, its a rotor, so be prepared to fork out on maintenance because they will punish you if you dont keep it up...

Rx8 Is interesting. I'm not sure if there would be anything wrong with the ones inthat price range because it seems rather cheap

For the price of an RX8 is not exactly fast! Motor tested it and got a 7.5 sec to 100 and 15.3 in the GT model.

Great handler but not enough go.

Get a BF XR6 Turbo spend a grand on a flash and it will run 4 seconds to 100km/s.

where did i say it was fast? i said it 'goes hard' which it does..

obviously an xr6 turbo + mods is going to smash an rx8 in a straight line, but not everyone buys cars for their 0-100 time, or 1/4 mile time. Some people(probably a few on this forum) would rather a cars handling capabilities over straight line power.

personally id take an rx8 over an xr6 turbo, but i know some of my mates wouldn't even look at an rx8 compared to an xr6 turbo. different cars for different people.
