Help with locating a rattle

Post by Dan25 »

Hey guys,

I've got a really frustrating rattle noise coming from the passenger side of my car. I'm certain that it is coming from the dash area. I've had a look underneath at all the wiring and stuff, but can't find anything that seems to be loose. It has prgoressively gotten louder and sharper over the past few months and it's beginning to worry me. I'm even wondering if it may be something external (eg. suspension related), despited sounding like it's internal...?

I don't really want to go down the path of disassembling the whole dash when I don't really know what I'm looking for, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be?

Just throw any ideas at me and I will check them out.

Thanks,

Dan

My rattle from my dash ended up being my astray being too small for the centre console and the coins inside it.

Well it's definitely nothing in the glovebox, nor is it coins. It's not coming from the centre console, it's definitely originating from the passenger side.

Basically every single shockwave that is sent through the car causes the rattle. It doesn't have a metallic "ting" to it or anything - it's the kind of sound you would associate with something being loose.

I wonder though, could my ears being tricking me and could it possibly be something suspension related?

Open the door panel and see if there is anything loose inside. There could be loose peices of anything under the window

I had/have a rattle atm. Its because I need to replace both Front Sway Bar bushes (or what ever they are called).

They are being replaced on Friday =)
