Unwanted Passenger

Post by AJ »

This was my car this morning.

Do you see anything?

My first big Aussie spider experience in 9 years.
This thing ran up my side window while I was at the lights on Friday night. I sh*t myself and floored it. Unfortunately as it was peak hour traffic I could only get up to 60kmph for short blasts of time. I thought I’d lost him. When I got home, it was gone. This morning he jumps up on the passenger side. Mrs AJ screams and I nearly crash. We’re really close to home so pull in to the garage but he’s gone, until I see a leg sticking out of the top of my bonnet!

 you worryed about that little thing

as for trying to get rid of it doing 60kph NOP they hang on at 110kph :?

the first thing you think of is sh*t is it on the inside or out side then you start to check to see if the window is all the way up

That is exactly what happened! :) I was looking for the ejector seat button! So sh*t myself. Then again today when the missus screamed, took her belt of and practically jumped on my lap at 60 because it was on her side. We had only moments before had the windows down I hate to think what would have happened if it had come in .

Fortunately though, its a huntsman which is not known to be venomous. I'd be more worried if it was a redback or a sydney funnel web, you'd be flooring your fto to the hospital if they got a hold of ya.

I feel your pain.. I have had 2 on the FTO.. Luckily 1 was small, but the other was huge.. I saw them both when I was in the garage, and not driving.. So that was lucky..

At my new place, in about 1 wee, I had 8 of the bastards in my garage. They were massive.. And because they move quick, you only get one shot at em... they were on the wall right behind my motorbike.. So to slow em down, I had my Motul chain spray, which is quite sticky.. Hit em with that, then squash with the old size 11... Fly spray doesn't work on these Buggers...
I just had to add it ......

My boss at work actually had one inside his car, and it was bigger than that. He saw it on the passanger side windscreen he sh*t himself, couldnt do anything abt it as he was driving and couldnt pull over, it scurried into the front area at the bottom of the windscreen so my boss turned the aircon on.

It scurried over the dashboard and went into his aircon vent at the front driver side.. so close to him. Imagine that? F*ck i'd run like a little girl and never come back lol. Anyway, what he did was get a pen and started stabbing through the vent. He put his heater on full blast and the spider was obviously hot and trying to get out, but when he tried to get out he would get stabbed with the pen. Eventually there was goo and spider bits on the vent cos my boss stabbed the sh*t out of it.

I imagine him turning on the aircon one day and legs flying at his face lol.

Ha! Having respect for them, and having one in the car with me are two slightly different things!

If you can't dazzle them with dexterity, baffle them with bull...

This is the funniest thread ever! hahahaha

But also, im terrified of spiders too....just wondering if i can call NRMA when the incident happens? :D

My gf house in newcastle once have a redback outbreak all around the house and i got freaked out. Went to the mall and bought two cans of moltein and kill them all.
Not all actually. I kept some as pets and even bought a bug viewer from ebay and study them up close! that was so cool!
Black spider vs redback vs daddy long legs!

Yeah, insect spray dont really work well for big spiders...the good old size10 will work definitely.

Thats why...always wind up the window everytime the car is parked in the garage. maybe the airvents too?

I agree that spiders a scary as sh*t, I used to own a Holden Gemini and one day i pulled into my house and as i lent into the back to grab my bag what did i see..............A bloody snake!!!! how the hell did it get in. No one knows, it was only a green tree snake, but it was enough for me to run around screaming at the top of my lungs. Promptly sold the car 2 weeks later. :D

LOL. I was telling everyone at work on Monday and showing them the pictures. The obligatory *~delightful!~* guy told me that I should have driven straight to the police station and got them to deal with it! ha-ha. Man, feeling like a little girl is right. Had to get Mrs AJ's sister to come and kill it for me.
