fuming!

ok, driving to work this morning in my own lane minding my own business n all of a sudden from the middle lane (which was stationary) a car (which my car was half way up its body) decides to pull out into my lane. i start honking, braking n swerved my car into the gutter (which was about 10cm, not much) to avoid a full body respray to my car. the amount of smoke my car released from the brakes, i think half the road was fogged up. N THE BITCH DIDNT REALISE!

so, 'lucky me' my car didnt get hit but when i caught up to her in the next set of lights, i gestured to her to roll down her window so i could just get her to acknowledge shes done the worng thing, n what she do STARE AT ME BLANKY N KEPT DRIVING.

im really REALLY annoyed atm, not a good way to start the day at work, n the rest of my car trip to work im thinking, if ive damaged the other side of my car trying to avoid her its not considered hit n run because my car didnt make contact with hers. again 'lucky me' no damage, but im so angry that she didnt even realise what she'd done, i was really shaken n its not fair that i have to make contact with her car...

I saw this all the time Cass on my motorbike. Taxi's and 4WD's are my pet hates from learning to ride in Sydney. Taxi's drivers because they seem to not care, and 4WD's because they simply don't look.

My favourite was pretty similar to your own story. Someone stopped at the lights suddenly served into my lane although I slammed on the brakes and avoided a collision. I knew the set of lights though, so I got off my bike and tapped on his window.

The look on his face at that moment will make me smile for another decade.

I asked him to roll down the window, which he did only a faction, and simply said "Keep doing what you just did if you want to murder someone" and walked back to the bike.

He probably had no idea what he had just done, but it's nice to scare them for a change

Wow, nice! Massively mature approach to be able to get off your bike and show that much restraint against someone who almost killed you.

Good on you, that's the sort of level headedness that makes this site such a good place to be

Oh, and Cass... yeah it makes your blood boil I know, but again there's no point letting it eat away at you; so many people on the road are oblivious and unskilled... an unfortunate fact of life I guess

Cassf88, next time this happens just brake in a straight line, and dont swerve, hit her if you have to. then it's her at fault, as dumb as the following statement sounds... it'as true: it's not worth the risk to avoid the accident.

Really does your head in doesn't it. Gone are the days of survival of the least stupid - now almost everyone survives till adulthood. Someone does this to you and you really do think that there should be a cull to thin out the gene pool. Enforced sterilisation at the very least.

And yes, amazing how much smoke you can produce when you lock up those wheels!

Grue--im all in for sterilisation of the idiots in the world. if u cant do it properly (drive in this context) n u insist on doing it, we'll sterilise u!

Borep-- i know what u mean in saying let her hit me, but my car is my pride n joy n id be devestated if it turns to a repairable write off or i cant find the replacement parts (as on this site shows sometimes its difficult). i was suprised at my reaction time, especially that early in the morning

Midi-- its good to see that your still alive... hopefully for many more years to come, your maturity towards idiots is aspiriing.

Bennoz-- i avoid ppl (like u) in a car with the market value of less than $1000, its a sardine can that can be eaily replaced. lol

what scares me is that im mastering the art of 'efficient' braking when my wheels lock up, i want ABS, never had a car with it n i think my life would be easier! lol

i just wanted to tell her shes a poopi head n to tell her do headchecks damnit! GGGGR!

i though u had a facelift 97 - onwards fto that means im pretty sure that it should have ABS as standard, unless u have just swapped the front bar ??

I dont beleive ABS was ever standard, it was an option only

Cass, nice defensive driving hun but im with yang on this dont swerve because if you hit another car and she didnt hit you, its your fault.

there was no car on my other side, or it wouldve been inevitable that id be without my beloved while it had to get repaired...

i was just worried that because i ended up driving in the gutter i killed my wheels...

disgraceful...some drivers out there are sooo ignorant it's not funny...personally i wish there was a rant law where you could pull someone over and give them a good talking to...2day for instance, on my way to uni if i wasn't anticipating what would have happened i'm 99% sure that i would of had an accident at a T intersection due to some chick not willing to acknowledge my right of way...she was erratically creeping to try and turn before the cars coming head on reached where our cars were...and a few weeks earlier, i'm side by side with a lady with her family in her car and she decides to suddenly try and merge into my lane so i honk at her and she swerves back into her lane, you'd think she'd back off till i've passed and go behind me...no...a few seconds later she tries again and i honk back, needless to say she tried a 3rd time where i just backed off and let her in then went around her and gave her the biggest death stare i've ever given anyone

so yeh cass you would have evry right 2 be annoyed and swerving may not be the best idea but i think most would agree that it is instinctive just like braking

almost hit a car on the way home from work tonight as well at eastwood

old asian lady in a merc turning out onto the road I was on. She only started going once I got near and had to slam my brakes and thank god for ABS because I would have cleaned her up as I was going 60

This stuff is always happening and will continue to happen. Lucky no one was hurt and your fto wasn't majorly damaged. I would definitely not try to swerve to avoid in future.

Your fto may need a wheel alignment now

oh i've had this happen to me so many times in Sydney, it's especially scary when a bus does it to you on a freeway. now i always make sure i get as quickly as i can past anybodys blind spot cause most people have issues spotting a bright red car next to them.

Sounds bad, lucky nothing happened to your car but don't hold a grudge.. the worse thing you can do is let the rage of it take over you when you're driving, it causes you to do stupid things, I've gotten out the car a couple of times when something has really pushed me over the edge and when I look back at it, I think about how pissed off I was and it's not a good way to feel while being on the road.

There's always going to be retarded people out there, whether you like it or not, they will be there and it's out of your control. Try not too worry too much about something you have no control over, but I honestly do understand how you'e feeling.
