Gear stick alignment

Hi guys, Im just a bit concerned about my manual gearstick, it seems that it is not really in the middle on 3rd, eg when im on 5th gear it looks like im on 3rd gear, 4th looks like 2nd, u get the idea... so 1st &2nd gear seems to be a bit far to the left, and on neutral, when i push the stick to the left its softer than when i push to the right. iv seen my friend's manual corolla stick and its straight - 3rd looks like 3rd, 4th looks like 4th, etc.., but maybe its a difference in the manufacturer, so i was just wondering if this is a problem or if its normal.

bad busing maybe... also maybe the spring is weak....

how do you fix this? i realise now that this wasnt right,today i test drove a version that my friend was interested and i noticed it was in perfect alignment, im worried - i might stuff something up if i keep at this without doing anything. couldnt even find some guides specific to the topic.
