i actually had a TMU (traffic management unit) officer come in to my work today. he was really nice n really positive. what he told me was that the most important thing is to stay proactive n positive in if i dont get in then just say ok what do i need to do to better my chances n start again...
did u know after 15yrs of service u make 70k annually n your super is around the +$1mil?!

well the thing is i dont know if he made 70k before the 15yrs of service but at 15yr i know your on 70k, not including overtime, shift work n he said something else-- so ye..
i spoke to one of my mates whos been through it all, he's gotten a big head about it so hes becoming a little less appealing to talk to about my situation every time but he remebers that when i told him my initial exam score, he claims, its a mediocre score n that i should be trying to acheive over 200 out of a possible 240 (i got 170 something). so i dont know if what hes saying is the right thing or whether it just to put himself on a pedestal.
btw-- rock_it, youre very aspiring.

just an update-- called up recruitment yesterday to find out that if my application expires how long i would have to wait before going through the whole process again...
the lady over the phone was very adamant that i dont think about that right this minute n was assuring me that i still have a 50/50 chance of gettin in. so i asked her my question, "if my application expires how long do i have to wait/ is there a cooling off period in which i have to wait before applying again?" n she told me that apparently changes are being made n that the process atm is not going to be the same as to how it might be when my application expires, so i said "hypothetically speaking if my application expired today, how long do i have to wait..?" n she says "12months"..... ?!?!?!
she tried to reassure me n be positive (another positive one) n said that only when they send me out the letter that my application expired should i start thinking of what to do.
/end update

HUGE UPDATE
i have juts been called by a copper
ive been offered a job doing protective services. I'm still to adhere to the duty of care n code of ethics that a police officer recieves but i am not a sworn member of the force...
i still get trained at Glen Waverley (the Vic Pol academy) n i still get a badge but not the same power of arrest that a sworn member does....
i have to give an answer tomoz morning and-- i start of the 14th of Sept.
Good things do happen to those who wait
