window problem
Hey guys
Ive had this problem for a while and doesnt really bother me, but since ive got free time on the holidays i thought id try fix it.
When i put down my driver's side window all the way, when its a few inches from the bottom it jolts slightly and makes a noise before going down the whole way. Do i need a new motor for the power window?
Also when its completely down it rattles when going over bumps and when i close the door. Ive done a search and realised its the window guides. Does anyone know where i can get some from locally instead of importing from overseas?
The passenger side window is fine no problems

Before you go and buy anything take the door lining off and make sure the window isnt hitting anything on the way down. I fixed one last week where the central locking solenoid had been replaced and was pushed in too far. Window was hitting it on the way through. As to the window guides, you can get them from your local Mitsi dealer (they are common with lancers I think). About $15 a side when i bought my last set. the part numbers are listed in some of the past threads.

I have a problem with the window as well.
The window always auto lower itself down to the center when i raise it up all the way. It only happens when i raise the window at a go or use the Auto function (holding the button up all the way). It works fine if i raise the window bit by bit.
After auto lowering itself down, the power window will not be functionable for 10 secs or so.
sorry chuster for hijacking.

And because I don't want to start another thread on power windows...
Mine in the lancer, Go down pretty quickly (as normal) but when you wind it up, it is soooo slow ... What does that usually mean ...

I had the same problem. Take the inside of the door apart and just unhook the plug that is connected to the power window button and leave it unhooked. It was a long shot when i did it but it worked.howc wrote:I have a problem with the window as well.

Ok if i leave it unhooked means i would no longer have a auto power window right?harry90 wrote:I had the same problem. OK peeps .. Just found some awesome stuff... Graphite Powder ... Sprinkled it in the rubber of the window slider, and wow what a difference .. No need to remove door trims or anything ..I8A4RE wrote:id get some silicone spray (the sh*t in a can) and spray all the way your rubbers, if that dont fix it, then as VIP says. No, the window will work like new when you unhook it. I know it sounds stupid but it does work. When you push for full auto close...it will close completely....and vice versa without any problems....there is no catch..mine has been unhooked for about a year now.

The windows were going up slowly ... And also thee driver window would jump out of the rubber near the top, and then pull back in again ...
As there was no lubrication in the rubber tracks up the frame of the window, the graphite powder does that .. Now as the FTO does not have the top frame of a window this would not work .. But I am sure there is a rubber track inside the door that could be lubricated if need be ...

Took apart my door today and found out that the window was getting caught on a cable when going down which is why it was jolting at the bottom, dont ask me how
.
As for the rattling, noticed the plastic bit between the window guide and the bracket was worn, but cbf taking out the window guide atm so i'll do that later or just leave it.

Just pull that bracket with the plastic guide out, its only 1 nut. Then pop the plastic guide out & tap the bracket together a bit with a hammer. Reassemble & bobs your uncle, rattle gone!chuster wrote:As for the rattling, noticed the plastic bit between the window guide and the bracket was worn, but cbf taking out the window guide atm so i'll do that later or just leave it.
