You'll find the lineup here:

We're all a little biased, but we'd suggest the FTO is a great car! :D

I play with the V6 calibra (manual) before, & theres a fair bit of different between the FTO & calibra, especially if you get the manual one.

So it doesn't matter which model your going to get (GR, GPX, GPvR) u going to love it.

The GPvR is a bit of a strip down version of the GPX made from 97' onwards. Same engine (Mivec 147Kw) but the tiptronic comes in 5 speed and it has better looking racing seats. It also has a face lift front bar and different spoiler.
These cars are hard to find and pretty pricy compared to a 95' GPX (approx 10K). They are still a good buy.

sorry i meant the GPvR is about 10K more than the GPX. GPX's usually cost anywhere from 15K - 20K whereareas the GPvR costs 25K-30K and thats if u can find one.
And yes, I have been any FTO LUVer for a few years now, only had a chance to buy one September last year :D [/quote]

My advise, for what it is worth. Find a manual GPX and take it for a drive. Then all you have to do is find the one you want to buy and negociate the price.

It is as simple as that.

Just got mine a week ago - best week of my driving life. A mate asked me "Why did you get an FTO?" So I gave hime a drive. End result? He got out, shook my hand and said "well done".

I used to have a 4x4 Calibra turbo in the UK and I've driven one since I've had an FTO and they are definitely quite different driving experiences.

The calibra was really quick in a straight line with loads of low down grunt (I'm sure it's similar to the calibra V6 for torque). It used to be good for the open roads where you could cruise at 110 kph with blasts to 150 in the quiet spots.

The FTO doesn't have the same acceleration (although if you keep it over 5K rpm it's quite quick), but once you get it on the twisty stuff it's definitely far superior. It feels really tight and balanced with virtually no body roll.

I figured that if I'm going to spend 95% of my time in built up areas where I'm lucky to get to 70 kph, then I'll get a car with maximum fun that eats roundabouts and looks the business.

The first GPvR's were 4 speed, they changed to 5 speed later.

as far as I'm aware of, the 4x4 Calibras only came out in turbo versions (with 2500cc displacement) which sorta explains the extra mumbo down low. However they are also understandably heavy and not very nimble around twisties - one of a number of reasons why they were not so popular downunder (esp when you consider other 4x4 turbo alternatives like the GSR and WRX available at the time at a cheaper price)

if you want my opinion, i'd pick the FTO for all the reasons in the world... ;)

hey Jackson, do you still have your Calibra plastic sideskirts in good nick? If you're in Melbourne can I buy them from you?

You really have to drive one first, driving such a car is a different experiance to most cars.

The question is why do you want an fto, if you want to be something unique, and stylish then get an fto. But if your after a very fast 1/4 mile car then you really need to look at other options.

Sure, you can get decent 180's skylines for about the same price, but why would you? To be every Tom, Dick & Harry out there?

It all depends on what you are after, and what you can afford with insurance

Edit: A quote I saw in another forum: "Once you drive Jap you never go back" :P

I hope u not talking about AU or older one, cause they crap, but if u can get a BA XR6T for the same price of a GPX or GPvR FTO (in good condition of course), i get two off you.

Thanks for the response,

i will get my skiny white ass down to take on for a test drive this weekend :)

the turbo 4x4 calibra wasn't a 2.5 v6 it was a 2 litre 4! and yes it was only available in 4x4.

my 2.5 v6 was a fantastic car to look at and be inside, but your right it wasn't the fastest thing in the world, i think it's 0 100 time is a little under 8 seconds, i beleive that the FTO GPX is 6.4 or something is that right ???

i'm not looking for a drag car just want to to be as fast or close to say a integra type r, around the same power ?????

Anyone had a go at one of these at the traffic light grand prix ??

MOst inportant and i can't beleive i have nmot already asked.

the calibra was soooooooo expensive to keep running <i think that is why they never sold many>

i got my timing belt done, $900 later.

so before i buy an FTO can anyone tell me , are these expensive to get parts for ?
