The foam is so i can fibreglass over top of the foam, then i will pull the foam out from the back. I will be doing the same trick for all holes on the bar which then effectively give me a clean canvass to work from. I will then style the front bar from that.
May even make a mould
As for the foam versus modelling styrofoam. They both have their advantages and dissadvavantages. I will use modelling styrofoam later in the project to do the more detailed work.
Project is coming along nicely. I would go the black for sure. Maybe im a little biased though.
Just thought I would warn you about using using resin on foam. Whilst it is a great idea be careful as resin will disolve some foams. Pretty sure styrofoam will disolve instantly but to be sure just test it on some scrap before you go to all the trouble of shaping and sanding. Good to see someone giving it a go though.

Yeah thanks mate, i will definitly be doing test before hand.
AJ, I LOVE THAT BLUE THATS EXACTLY LIKE I WAS THINKING.
Yeah the guuys are quite right black is a terrible colour for showing up imperfections.
Well looks like the consensus is satin black, which is kinda of good in a way as it is much easier to paint, however it will end being that blue, i just love that

Was speaking from experience of painting things smaller then cars, so I'll just shut my mouth then.
i say go for the Satin Black .. oh, and with your front bar ... even though I don't like it so much, you just HAVE to go with this sort of design .. it's an FTEvo after all
*edit* BTW, that second pic is sexy as .. if the Evo X actually looked like that I might buy one...

Nothing more ''evil'' then a red fto
On a side note,dont think it'd be wise to get an expensive paint job on a track car.
Nah guys, not the dark red.. I think Simon wants to be different - hence the Blue / Matte Black .. I'm set on doing mine in Blood Red Candy with "nightshade" style clear coat overlay .. so it will appear to be black with red highlights when in shadow, but in full light, it will appear red with black shadow tones..
Kind've like;
I think a good blue to use might be the Cobalt Blue candy colour, with the same combination of blue over black base coat & some amount of nightshade overlay would look awesome;
