After just reading the 9 pages.... before they locked the thread. It will be interesting to see the effect this does have on their membership levels... It has certainly sparked a fair amount of controversy.

Non members are allowed to post to a max of 20 times as far as I can see.

Just another reason I think to be glad we're in Aussieland.

Thanks supplanter for remembering there are a few girls here as well :D lol

Cheers

i posted something like 90 posts!

about 60 bucks a year is a damn ripoff!

this forum is just as good as the owners club one. The more members the better for forums! More techincal imput.

I find they should use sponsership as the means of making money. Or the owners must just be greedy.

It would be nice if you got your facts right before slagging off the Club mate....

New members Owners Club joining fee is £15 for the first year, then £10 for each year after that.

Also, the membership fee is not for the forum, it is to join the club.

For your £15 (£10 after that) you get:

Quarterly Newsletter
Approved Spare Parts suppliers
Merchandise
Organised Track Days & Rallies
Owners Manual
Discounts with parts suppliers and garages
Calendar
Membership Pack
AND
full access to the forum

If you think that 20p per week is too much to pay to join the club, then fair enough. I just thought everyone should know what's involved for your £10

Can I also add that our newsletter is a 20 page magazine and not just a letter. The other big thing Chris missed from the membership benefits about is a club insurance scheme which on average saves member 10% on their insurance.

While we're on the subject of facts, I was asked to pay 20 quid overseas FTOOC membership cost in February this year.

guys please keep it civil here, as the UK and Australian clubs are not affiliated in any way their decisions have no impact on what happens here.

In their defence i can personally attest to the cost of running a real site like this or the FTOOC site - currently it comes out of my own pocket.

Whilst we have taken a slightly different approach to covering the cost of this site with Discounts and other means such as advertising our membership fee's that come into effect from 1 July 2004 are voluntary. Those members who do decide to become financial members not only will have discounts on pretty much everything including insurance, they will be able to obtain their CAMS licensing through our club.

there currently are no plans to turn these forums into a user pays system, as web hosting is donated to the club.

We haven't changed it into a subscription site, we've simply limited the Owners club site to owners club members. Anyone that was around a couple of years back will see that it was limited before I came along and took over the website. It's been open to all since then, and it was decided between the committee and the members that it should be limited again.

You are in a very lucky situation with regards to the hosting of the site, we currently do not get donated hosting, and haven't had at any point.

Again, that is the Overseas membership fee, the UK one (which I mistakenly thought payaya was) is £15, then £10 each year thereafter
