Fuel pump filter NOT Fuel Filter

Fuel pump filter NOT Fuel Filter
Hi guys, just chking if you know that besides the fuel filter, there is also another filter in the fuel pump?
I'll chk out the part number when i get home tonite using the CAPS program.
Has anyone changed this before and is it necessary to do so in addition to the fuel filter change? Both are located under the backseat 'i think'.
BTW, how often do you guys change your fuel filter?

depends on the condition of the pump filter... if its really bad then it will mean the pump has an easier job of delivering fuel....wildfaye wrote:Would changing the fuel pump filter and the fuel filter be more effective in fuel delivery?
i think the question here is what are you trying to achieve? if you're after better throttle response then a FPR is probably more what your looking for.
regardless a clean filter will always perform better

and here's why:
by doing this you are actually enabling more fuel to be delivered. however the ECU will only deliver the amount of fuel it requires to hit the A/F ratio that it is programed to deliver.
by doing these upgrades you can increase the amount of air into the engine by forced induction (turbo, s/charge, nitrous).
the best way to improve fuel economy is to do breathing mods such as
* Highflowing Intake such as the one we've developed
* Non-turblance Engine pipes like the ones we've developed
* Highflow CAT
* Performance exhaust system with no (or as few as possible) restrictions.
you may find a better throttle response by doing those upgrades however if it's a F/E gain you are after they are the wrong sort of mods.

But the FTO's engine ECU uses preset mappings at wide open throttle. Is that called open loop? Think so. It doesn't use the lambda sensor basically - it just runs its programmed way.
It still takes into account stuff like MAP sensor (GPX) obviously.
If you change all that stuff, then it would run yukkily rich at what. I've never tuned an EFI system (wouldn't know how, hehe) but I was under the impression the greatest torque comes from tuning mixtures just below the point where detonation occurs, so richer mixture at what would just waste fuel and slow you down.
The FTO is a pretty finely balanced piece of EFI tuning as it is. Be careful how you tweak it, hehe.

Question, ive got an apexi AFC which allows me to alter the amount of air in my air fuel mixture (i think???) what are the effects of havin a) more air and b) havin less air have on the performance of the car??
Im still learning but wouldnt it b better to b runnin a richer mixture when your pushin your car?
Also wouldnt havin a rather lean mixture cause problems with pre detonation?
i havent really played round with it as it was already in the car when i bought it, but its currently set to +15 if i remember correctly, would changin these settings also alter fuel consumption by much??

unless you really know what your doing take it to a professional to be tuned on a dyno.
basically:
if you lean out the engine (more air less fuel) you will get more power, however if you go too far you will damage your engine.
if you are set at +15 i'd say you are runnign rich, which is reducing power and decreasing fuel economy.
