stuck seatbelt

Post by 8u8813f1uff »

im trying to pull out my seatbelt but it seems to be stuck, i had a look at the seatbelt mechanism and im not sure but i think the weight mechanism is dislodged or soemthing because the tooth on the spool is always engaged with the pulling mechanism

does anybody know how to fix this?

try and pull it apart and see if you can unjam it, otherwise you can get a replacement fto seatbelt at the wreckers.

Hmm, as far as I was aware, pre-tensioning seat belts should never be dismantled since there is a small explosive device located in them, designed to quickly detonate and lock the seat belt under extreme pressure, hence preventing you from flying around when a vehicle rolls etc. Tapping the wrong thing while attempting a repair could be dangerous, if this is the case.

Could be wrong. Someone correct me.

yeah I thought so.

I think some sort of centrifugal locking mechanism was responsible for the seat belt locking under instant pressure. I've never opened one up though so I wouldnt know.
