wiring problem???

Post by lal »

Hiya guys, I've had my car for about 8 months now.
approx 4 months since I had it, the white "maruta" lights (driver side)... gave up...
I ordered a new pair, replaced it... 4 months later.. the driver side low beam light blew up again 8O ... I'm sure these lights have longer life span than this... before I buy a new one to replace it.. can anyone tell me if this is normal life span for these white lights?

if not, anyone know how i can check if the wires or something may be causing this problem? (getting shorted out somehow etc.)

any ideas greatly appreciated 8)
cheers!

Are you using the same type of bulb for the passenger side lights? Is so, have you had any problem with those?

I would have thought if the wiring was the prob it would blow the fuse too/first. No clue on bulb lifespans but 4 months sounds very short. You said you replaced the ones that were in there with similar bulbs???? so you would have a spare bulb lying around somewhere anyway - have you tried it?

some of those light blow real easily! i had both blow in one night once!

just make sure you dont touch the bulb and even better try not to contact the bulb on the bulb housing when putting it in.

good way of achieving this is to put the bulb in the housing before connecting it to the wire.

its not a wiring problem, just dodgy lights.

thanks for the tip.... :)
i guess i just have to be careful next time...
I've always thought that my lights were pretty dim... realised that they are only 55w.... what's everyone else using as their white low beam?? 80w?? is 55w.. legal for low beam lights?
