Mitsubishi Nunda

G'day All.

I have enjoyed reading this site for a few months now but have decided that I had better make a serious post.

I have my '95 Mivec booked into Mitsubishi Nunda for it's K90 service next Wednesday.

I bought it last May. The previous owner was a young dude who was spoilt by his father. My FTO was imported as his 21st pressy. It was too hot for the young fellow so Dad sold it to me and bought him a brand new Beamer!!!

Trouble is the prat did not care for it.

I had Mits Nunda do the tappets a while back. Quoted $350 and that was what I paid. It ended up taking 5 hours as they had to manufacture a "tool". Brilliant job. Went from sounding like a can of marbles to singing through my "cop attracting exhaust system"
Also had the transmission rebuilt by APEX transmissions Auchenflauer. Verada gearbox!! $2500. Good job.

I have had them quote on the service and they are reluctant to put too much down on paper:

Timing belt: $490
Service $250

Other requests:
Brakes. Won't say till they see them. Will use generic parts
Rear Engine/Gear box mount: Ditto
Alternator belt: Ditto,Will use generic parts
Air Con Belt: Ditto, Will use generic parts
Widows rattle when in down postion. Will look at it
Carbon blow out !!??
Spark plugs.Will use genuine parts.

I am hoping to get away with between $1500 and $2000.

I will let you know how I go. And yes Mark I will mention that I post on this site and if they stuff up they can expect no recommendations.

How do you become a member of the FTO Club?

I am Northside Brisbane, the Burgandy FTO with Volk Mags and the HUGE tail pipe. I have spotted two Silver "brothers" recently. One out of the Mcdowell area and recently one in Ferny Grove ??

Mate. You seriously need to get onto the FTO Qld mailing list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ftoqld). We stay away from that place like the plague. Most people get any serious work done on their FTO at a place down the gold coast who have an FTO trained mechanic.

www.nihoncarparts.com.au down the Gold Coast will do it for half the price of Nundah and have a mechanic from Japan who used to work for Mitsubishi.

I would also suggest the guys down the coast have a better idea of what they are doing, although this is only my observations from using both workshops.

Had all my major servicing done at Rik and Jo's before heading back to Tassie. No problems whatsoever............

They are open on Saturdays but prefer to do major servicing during the week. They had no problems picking me up and dropping me off to the train station at Helensvale.

I picked up my vehicle fro Mitsusubishi Nunda this morning. ie Saturday after arriving from Korea at 06:15 am. I had arrange to pick it up from the Sales Department at this time and it was ready with the correct billing.

Well done Mitsubishi Nunda.

My request was:

Sorry, I am happy with them and will be going back!!!

And, after it had warmed up on the way home, I ridiculed a couple of backward capped 'dudes' in a Caprice with tyres and exhaust.

It is user unfriendly and I will not use it. Sorry.

A Qld page here would be best.

Good to hear they have done a good job. If you're happy with their service (and price) then no reason not to go back. And it sure is much more convenient than having to get your car down the Gold Coast for a service.

There is a Qld page on these forums but it isn't used much because most peoplel use the yahoo group.
