haha yea man i had this problem
the electrician charged me $70 told me some bullsh*t and said it was some sh*tty wiring and had to redo it

if its anything like mine (which i assume it is)

there will only be one wire
1 wire obiviously goes connected to your steering wheel and then get another piece of wire and connect it to the steering wheel and then ground it on the sides of your steering column...

lol sorry for the sh*tty explanation but its really simple

Just think you horn is a plate and when you push it, you push the plate onto a earth which completes the circuit. so need power to plate....check the when it touchs the backing that should earth it.....check. sorry i drunk cant explain it any better

mate,

did it ever work? and have you changed your steering wheel
im starting to believe the standard steering wheel has a wire that somehow grounds itself

i think you may need to play to a copper wire and do it yourself..

lol i cant explain if your in sydney somewhere i can have a look at it and probably fix it for you

Wish I had pics of when I changed mine now, but the mounting bracket (circular, before you mount the boss) is attached to the steering column (big rod thing down to the steering rack is what I mean, the term escapes me) grounds the factory horn closing the circuit and engaging the horn.

When you press the standard horn it presses a contact against that

Crude illustration, takes some imagination. Just attach your ground wire to the column part somehow. Use a test light so that you know when a circuit is connected and you are sorted.

And some spelling practice... kidding br, these things are easy to miss. Work on the car more, take things apart and put them back together. You will eventually get an eye for mechanical/electrical stuff :)
