Possible leak in roof?

Post by Supplanter »

I put my seatbelt on today and noticed it was quite damp. Any idea wear this water could have come from. It hasn't happened before so I am a bit puzzled. It was raining last night but my sunroof was closed.

I'll have a poke around at the DIY day on Saturday.

1. do you have a hardtop? or a hardtop w/ sunroof?

if you have a sunroof - i bet ya the seals are farked and its seeping through

if you dont have a sunroof and its leaking then you have a major rust problem and to be honest your farked lol

Just a regular FTO with a factory sunroof. The part of the seatbelt that was wet retracts into the B pillar, so the water came from the B pillar, not straight from the sunroof.

mate you want to find as quick as possible just so it doesnt start rusting out your roof.

I suggest you pull off your hood lining and possibly your seat belt trims. THen get a garden hose and tape it to the roof and turn it on in the place you think the leak is coming from. Leave it for 10 - 15 mins, by then the water should have started to leak, if not move the hose round more and repeat.

yes, and hopefully if it is leaking due to rust its not to far gone... replacing a roof is costly business.
