i'm too lazy :(
to do it properly you need to do a multi piece mould, last time i looked at if u r to make an exact copy you are looking at a 6 piece mould... much too lazy to do it.
however i will look at it again when i get the chance to, see if u can do it a lazy way, if i can, i'll do it.

in the mean time... back to paper macheing the front guard lol

If your able to do it you could make some serious money I reckon, with all the people on this site after one. Me included.

lol funny u brought this up... i'm trying to source the metal bracets for the front bar for it right now lol.

not much has been done... all the interior is sitting in my shed ready for me to sort through... i've basically finished one of the front quarters (didnt have enough fibreglass to seal the plug i made, but i'll go buy some next time i have time free). I need the be able to mount the front bar on properly before i can finalise the design for the front quarter and front bar... >.< you want to sell me the bracet thingos from your front bar? lol

dont have the money for the AWD side :( (well i do, but thats being put aside for a 68 mustang and an US trip)

lately i've been wasting fibreglass meterial just practicing etc... just can't get it right (simple molds like the A pillar is fine but something like the door cup really f*&&s me up)

Theres a guy who took his 2wd Lancer and converted it to 4wd, using the rear floor cut from an EVO 3.

The floor pan is very similar to an FTO, the suspension mounts are all the same. All you would need was the rear floor, the tank and the dif, etc.

I looked into it but the Mrs, being a lazy cow, left her job to go to Uni, leaving me skint again

GO on, you know you want to

double post is because the coding error that only pops up on this site, so i wasnt sure if it was posted or not :P

yeah mustang to pull t he trailer the FTO is going to be on for the 1 yr or 2 that it's going to take for it to get done lol, shuddup it makes sense to me.

and the mustang wont be a project, it's just a massive holiday and purchasing a car (plannig 4-6 weeks to drive across the US), once it gets here it'll just be my daily lol, fix up this FTO sell it for some spare cash (buy a car trailer or to pay of the CC bill that i will no doubt rack up in the states). and start working on the shell

see? i'm organised, there's my 3-5 yr plan lol

mate, forget the mustang .. you're not going to find one cheap enough that doesn't need some major work anyways..

they're the kind've car you buy when you're in your late 30's - 40's & want something to restore with your kids.. (at least thats my plan - 69' fastback / c3 vette .. sitting in the garage next to the FTO & Elise ;))

at this rate your AWD FTO is going to be more like a 30 - 50 year plan..

just cut the floorpan out of the rolling shell already!! :P

have you talked to a shop to make sure the galant gear will fit in the FTO without modification?

you should talk to Adz & see where he's at with his car.. i think Sam mentioned he was doing a Galant AWD conversion..

maybe best to stay with the tried & tested Evo bits..

but hey .. if you want to go the 6A13 route, I won't stop you :)

havent spoken to a shop about this yet, since i dont have all the money i need. i'm hoping to get all the running gear etc sorted out once (so i only have to tow it once), so i'll be doing more research and talking to shops about this once i have a healthy $20k in the bank first. and hopefully by then i'll be able to manufacture how quarter panels and interior panels etc (hence why i'm wasting so much money on fibreglass and CF meterials right now practicing lol)

then i'll fit the right shockies and brakes etc, and after than i'll make the panels to fit it all under ;) (which means wide body kit)... and start saving for spastically expensive tyres lol

well the way i figure is 6a13 engine will definately fit. drive shaft etc would definately fit cos i'll be using the floor pan from a VR4 anyway, and i'm sure we can make the gear box fit, my biggest problem is if the aircon, power stearing etc would fit.

I love the 6A13, but IMHO it really only has one use in an FTO, and that is as a FWD. Space, I think, would be an issue for a 4WD gearbox with the 6A13 too.

If you want to go 4WD there is only one way, and as has (I think) been said before, it is to buy a wrecked Evo V (+) so that you get everything. The engine is so much smaller and the block is similar (if not the same) as the 4G93 1800 in the low spec FTO's. As a bonus, you get the Brembos (which will bolt on), probably some very nice Enkei Evo wheels (to clear the Brembos, and oh so light), some phat AYC action and that mint gearbox.

Should be lighter too, not to mention the amount of bolt ons that are available for the Evo engine.

If I did it all over again, FWD or 4WD, it would definitely be with an Evo engine.

EDIT1:

And if you are going to bother cutting up an FTO to put in an Evo 3 floor, you may as well do it with the later model bits, shouldn't be a hell of a lot more work involved... shouldn't, haha, famous last word!!!

Hmmmmm just had a thought you wanted a 6a13 and are unsure whether the vr4 rear end would fit.....could you not use a evo rear end (cause we know that will bolt up) and then just get a custom tail shaft made up...... dont know if it would work but might be worth looking into........
