Request - Guide to replacing engine seals

Post by mr-charisma »

Does anyone know where to find / or is able to write up a doco on how to replace the engine seals in a GPX?

In particular the Cam Seals / Cam Tower seals etc.. but I want to replace all of them if possible..

How far do you need to strip the engine apart to do them all?

mm.. guess it's gotta all be in the workshop manuals.. 8O

..might just be better off doing what simon suggested & plop a new engine in.. :P

I imagine it would even be cheaper..

lol definitly could be cheaper if you get a good price.

Man its a big job replacing all the seals especially while the engine is still in the car. If i end up doing the GPX ones i will do a DIY but i dont emagine that being for a while sorry

hmm.. interesting..so how do you drop it down gently without a crane?

& would i need a pit or a hoist to get it out?

yip if you have access to hoist its very easy to remove and could even do complete swap in a day fairly easy including new belts ETC

no hoist = remove gearbox from underneath ( awkward) then can lift from top, end result is engine change in couple days

Where theres a will there's a way

You use a crane.

You jack car up. then connect crane, undo last bolts then lower crane. engine goes down to the ground
