Not necessarily, it's an interesting topic. Some may get upset about it, but as it has been said, no-one's holding a gun to your head.

/relatedStoryTime

Had a party on Saturday and a good mate brought one of his friends around, bit of a rota head and driving a Legacy wagon.

First thing this guy says is "that your FTO down there br?" of course I say it is, he proceeds to grin like a monkey on crack "that's my legacy down there, it's twin turbo, pretty quick aye, reckon it could take your FTO HEH HEH"

My mate is telling him to stop, but he just keeps talking sh1t. I mean, this fool comes into my house and is bagging my car before even asking anything about it.

I was already drunk, so no way I was going to drive the car, but I shined him on a bit, talked my car up asking him if he was sure, and that I think Subies are crap. We get down to the cars and I start it up, quick couple of VROOM PSSHH's before shutting it off and walked back upstairs to continue my previous alcoholic ingestion. My missus gave him the "loser" sign over her forehead and I just had to laugh.

He was so quiet when he came back up. After a couple of hours he got back in on our car conversation and started talking up rotaries. Some people should just stay quiet, most people that bag them have nothing to base it off and if you ask them how they know they are crap it is normally something like "my mate with a rex sez ... ..."

Just tools, seriously.

Actually, what he meant was that this is probably the 100th time this topic has come up.

The rest of your comment - Yea, he's a wanker but you have to realise that people are going to think what they want to think. Nothing you say is going to make him change his mind so better not to bother.

Edit: Also, just try telling him in future that you don't live you life by the quarter mile, and you're not a hoon who goes around street racing. It's not like you bought an FTO just cos you couldn't afford something faster.

yeah its interesting reading this topic, i agree that some fto owners really sh*t me cos they talk ftos up a lot not mentioning names (ollie aka Douche) and really give them a bad name, i dont understand the need to compare cars, havin drivin most performance cars. R33, wrxs and 180s etc, i have always like the fto since i was young, i drive it simply cos i believe it has an unreal driving experience, the feel of a car is what matters, speed, power and etc mean little unless a car can appreciate and use it properly, With the GPX is has credible power and a perfect balance. obviously it is no R33 or WRX but it is not meant to be, havin a few freinds with the above cars, the obviously give me a little sh*t occasionally in good spirit about the FTO, i usually smile and dont worry with a reply, so a while ago we went for a run, we all swapped cars, 2 of them had no idea that the GPX has a 2l V6 with mivec, they though it was just a lancer engine lol, believe or not they loved the high revvin scream of mivec and said it was a nice break to the constant turbo spool, also they couldnt believe how nimble and manoevarable it was. now they actually understand the appeal of the FTO and when drunk that nite they actually gave it credit, haha lol, lesson: dont knock nothing until u have experienced it

and btw i had fun driving his moded r33, but i wont tell them that lol  ;)

Noone's ever given me sh*t for owning an FTO... everyone I know can appreciate it for what it is & aren't exactly disappointed when I take them for a drive .. so I don't understand what the big deal is?

So what if they did anyway?

..

If you're so desperate for their approval, then just go buy an R34 or Evo with a fully sik body kit subwoofer bro .. noones stopping you..

yeh i get bagged out by all my mates who are drifters  but who cares. They have bodyparts being held together by cable ties and staples hehehe.

Oh and on the topic of not bagging something until youve experienced it, I found a HYUNDAI that I actually like. The new 130 diesel. Very nice car with plenty of torque and quality interior. hehehe 8)

I drove one for 3 months while by car was being fixed after being rear ended.. after I got my car back, I felt like I was an F1 driver!

It was nice of the smash repairer to give me it for that long for free, nevertheless, 2 people learnt how to drive manual in the thing and by the time I gave it back the gearbox made loud crunching noises everytime I changed from 2nd to 3rd gear.

Honest to god the 130 makes and excel look like a piece of poo. 8O . Gives the countless Golfs a run for their money.... not really but a nice car nonetheless. I think the 130 won drive car of the year for best small car?
