Celica ZR
Does anybody know the 400m times of this *~delightful!~* looking car, i know it has 1.8 which produces 140kw and a manual gets to 100km in about 7.8 sec which isnt too bad, but my idiot mate seems to think that the run a mid 14's qtr mile time.....................this has gotta be bullshit....thats like v8/turbo power

Hmm... at AutoSpeed it does say those times, but i don't think the 7.6 is actually tested, i think they just say it as a estimate. The official toyota website doesn't have any info...
According to the NRMA, the SX model does 9.6s to 100k's and 16.5s to 400m... I think the SX and ZR have same engines... but those times could be for the auto... doesn't say.

My Wheels mag says that for the manual ZR, it's 8.6s to 100km's and 16.3s to 400m... they tested this in the 05/02 issue of Wheels...

i've taken on my mate's Celica ZR VVTi (stock except for bodykit) and owned him by about a car's length... having said that, there's no way it can run mid 14s in stock form coz if that was the case then i oughtta be more proud of my car than i should LoL...
edit: btw don't rely on the test times by Motor/Mag etc...

Why is that? If you talking about Wheels & Motor Mag, they do use proper Instruments to test 0-100 & 0-400, not stop watchs & G-Tech stuff.GPXXX wrote:edit: btw don't rely on the test times by Motor/Mag etc...

the important thing i guess, is that they keep the variables as constant as possible for every tested car, so that the results are more comparable.
but it can at least be used as a rough guide.
my goal is to get my car under 15 across the 1/4 mile one day, i'll be happy with that... its a road car car afterall... i envy those who have time and money to have a toy car for the track

if you compare the accel. times between both mags they are worlds apart and when they do another comparo/test few months or years later the difference gets even more 'interesting'... what sort of consistency does that tell you?FTO338 wrote:Why is that?
