An early bonfire

Well, currently there is a rather large bushfire about 7km from my place right now (and pretty much just forest between me and it). The whole place is shrouded in smoke. Battening down the hatches. Hopefully wont be toasty fried in the next day or 2.....

Ouch .. Not good ... I hope it gets under control ... Otherwise our April Bonfire, will turn to a January water fight, so we can save your place... Just say the word and I am sure a fleet of FTO's will be down there to help put her out ...

OK so far. Its now burnt 1200 hectares and yesterday, got no smoke here and there was no wind. Today may well be different though. Its going to be hotter than yesterday and the winds are going to push it my way. There is supposed to be a change coming through sometime which will help, but I guess well just have to wait and see.

nup, lightning strike. Just happened to hit an area that hasnt burnt FOR 70 YEARS. Yep, thats right, 70 YEARS. Ive been plastered for 3 straight nights now (good for the stresss). And tonight is no exception. This waiting is killing me. Every time they try and back burn, they get a bit of rain. Not enough to effect the fire mind you. Just enough to stuff the backburn. Has happened 3 times in the last couple of days. Pass me another drink, groundhog day begins again............

you wont need to barbaque your kangaroo's anymore then. Just take a stroll and oops is that a kangaroo grilled to perfection? Smothered in gravy sauce with a side of mashed potatoes and salad?

...But sir i asked for medium rare, i want to speak to the chef!

Well, its looking like im safe this time. Back burning was successful and the front closest to us is pretty much under control. Its not totally contained yet, but its not likely to be a problem now.
