Ah the joys of not being a P plater and being old enough to have not had to go through that crap.

See, being an old fart has it's benefits sometimes.

I've actually been caught on 2 occasions without P plates on (back when I was on Ps) and both times I got let off after a long convo with the cop and a lot of sucking up / being nice, it pays off ;)

what? no one loses points for not having their plates up!? i lost 3 points + fine cos they 'couldn't see' my plates! even though i had my plates up!! just cos the angle and tint of the rear windscreen makes it slightly harder to see..

that's *~delightful!~*.

at the same pullover i lost another 3 for my license plate being on the side...?

even more *~delightful!~*.

Sorry to hear, but realistically, if you get booked for no plates, you deserve it if theres no plate at all.... I mean, you could run a red light, speed, do a robbery etc... i think the fine is very justified and im surprised its not more...

I've copped a million fines (around $3,000 worth and over 40 points worth in the past 3 years.. some were bullshit... some were fair enough... some i got off lightly, some i got off completely... it all evens out in the end... and for every prick of a cop there is 2 good ones..

The main thing is remember these guys have a job to do and they most likely see a heap of accidents where speeding etc is involved... etc.. Not saying you were planning to speed but you could have... and if you went past a camera you would have gotten away with it...

They also want to make you realise you wont get away with it and i can gaurantee you will not drive again without your plates...

Sorry for the rant but cop bashing threads really get under my skin...

Anything not the same as factory is technically illegal... Also the plate has to be on the passenger side i think.... and in a certain position and angle... not sure exactly but chances of whacking a plate on and being 100% legal are slim

one of my mates got his car done straight off the showroom floor n the way the plates were put on the front grill were with cable ties because there was no other way to attach them,so they sat on a slight angle inwards (in this shape: \) n he got pulled over by a rookie n she was having a go saying that its illegal n all the rest n an arguement between my mate n her began (ony because thats how the dealership had mounted the plates), she had to get her acting senior to have a look n he told my mate to go on his merry way.

ive been lucky in 3 yrs only one speeding fine ($240 n 3 demerits) in my first yr
i got away with failure to indicate because i wasnt defensive n i admitted my fault (as well as i was going round a roundabout n noone else behind me at 2am) n just let off with a warning.

had one cop tell me off for not staying in the left lane of a 2 lane st which is marked at 60km an hr?!
