Fair Head Gasket Price

Post by Nacho »

Looking to buy a head gasket as I've just pulled off the heads of one of my engines that I know has a blown one.

I've been quoted $102.00 from Northshore Mitsubishi and just wondering whether that's a fair price for those of you who may have bought one before?

I think that price is ok for a genuine set from Mitsubishi but you can get them cheaper. I'm assuming your doing the installation your self.

No worries mate! Im also quite surprised to hear them sell you just the head gasket. I've rung a number of Mitsi parts places round here over the years & they would only do the complete kit. Must be a bit of demand for them on their own now :)

Sorry mate I can't give you the price as I haven't had it done before but it would be at least the cost of getting a timing belt changed.

If it's done by a mechanic who knows what they're doing then it shouldn't be too hard on labour.

Eg. Removal of intake manifold/plenum should only take about 10 mins.

basically will cost same time as involved for changing timing belt etc which you might aswell do while there plus the extra cost of gaskets checking and maybe cleaning planing heads etc so possibly around 2k +mark
