How does the D2 suspension system work? newbie needs help!

How does the D2 suspension system work? newbie needs help!

i just bought a fto and im really excited about it. i got some tools with it to adjust the suspension and the guy i bought it off was a member of this forum (Akuma3). He told me the suspension settings were for the track but im only using it for the road. Can ANYone tell me how to set it to feel more comfy on bumy roads as it rides really bumpy and hard. i dont mind raising the car height and spending a few hundred bucks in upgrades for smoother springs, shocks etc.

sell the coilovers to a member here for $400 - $500 and swap for their standard suspension

nice and soft for you and an extra few hundred bucks in your pocket

Sounds like a really good idea actually, just wondering if anyone could recommend some decent aftermarket coilovers that can replace the d2 i have on now. As i mentioned before, im after safety and comfortable ride rather than stiff perfomance. any advice appeciated :D

then u really dont need coilovers, u can either get the stock springs or if it was me id be going for aftermarket lowered springs. I think they go for like $300, maybe cheaper ...

I'd be going with one of the afore mentioned ideas ^^

If your keen to stay with coilovers thou, have the D2's pulled out & set up properly. They have a million & one different combinations & settings to tune them in for your driving style. They can be revalved & resprung to a much softer setting. Will cost you a few bucks thou.

yeh i was afraid it would cost me a bit but im hoping to get it comfortable for street driving and going over speed bumps and other stuff. i figure that softness may require me to raise it up further to prevent it from hitting bump stops, speed humps or driveways. i guess i should be happy with it the way it is, if i can get to the diy day i'll see what you guys can recommend.

d2 has adjustable spring rates if your lucky you might have soft springs that have been compressed with the big nut thay sit on. if not you can by softer sirings off d2 . also did you get a long allen key with a pink nob on the end. it slids in the top of your shocks to adjust damper rates

yes i did get the allen key with the pink knob on it. im not too sure how to use it exactly. Is turning it clockwise making the suspension stiffer or softer?

anti clockwise softens them but it changes the feel quit a bit. I have mine all the way hard at the front & all the way soft at the rear

The D2's are great, set the shocks to the softest setting (anti-clockwise I think it is). The problem with them, as has been already said, is the standard spring rates. Replace the springs perhaps and you will have a far nicer city ride.

Yeah knowing Alan (Akuma3) the damper is probably wound up all the way. As mentioned, just turn all the heads anti clockwise all the way to put it to the lowest setting.

Okay, wound them all anticlockwise and boy does that make a difference. :D So much more bearable.
