I have a passengers side cover, but not a drivers. You are likely going to have to buy a whole headlight for the other side. Chances of someone else having a cover are extrememly slim.

    Yep,

Save yourself some cash. Give it a bit of a polish with some cutting compound and then car polish and itll come up as good as new. Be prepared to spend 30 mins on it though.

just depends on how bad they are.
I would start with a 600 and work up to a 1500 and then hit it with a metal polish and a final hit with a plastice polish.
Just remember to keep the water up to it when you are sanding about every 10- 15 seconds add watter to the light and papper

do i just have to sand away the rest of the top layer to make it look new?

and do i need to apply anything to protect the layer underneath?

      thanks in advance
