Automatic Window Slide up when Alarmed

Hi guys

Has anyone ever done a DYI or point me the right direction of making my power mirrors go up when i switch on my alarm.

There must be a way to wire it up Albert but I can't think of anyone that has done it. It think most people that can do that have it as a function from their alarm. Like they paid extra for the ability to do that.

Maybe someone can tell you what you need to wire to what though. I wouldn't have a clue but think that making wiring the window switches to the central locking receiver may work. I wouldn't have a clue where the receiver is though sorry mate.

I will put my disclaimer in here...

I have tried this ... And found that the switch used on that DIY does not match any that I have seen in Australia....

The danger is this ... Our switch does not have a spring in it, so what it does, is it leaves the switch as a negative once the button is pushed in... If you then had another negative (which is the wire hooked up to the power windows to make it go up also), then there will be a short circuit.

If you were to do this successfully you would either need to do 1 of 3 things;

1) never use the switch manually, and only ever leave it in the neutral position
2) install a spring into the switch on either side of the button, so that when you push it in manually, it will spring back to a neutral/off position
3) Don't bother trying, cause it can't be done

Now I am not the best when it comes to wiring and electronics, but my friend that hooked up my car alarm, came to the same conclusion as I have... He was going to wire it up, but I did not want to run the risk of forgetting not to use the switch manually....

AJ was also going to look at this, but I believe he was not successful either... I am not sure if this was because he could not find someone to do it, or if he found out the same answers that I did....

Just out of curousity, does any one else have their windows connected up so you can use them with out the igniton on?

Does anyone want a DIY. I did it to my green car when i first got it and now that i have been driving the yellow one heaps recently i will be doing it to that soon.

I have my windows hooked up to my alarm!! fantastic idea! i hate switching the ignition off only to realise you have to turn it back on to get the windows up!! I have Breza's old FTO might be worth PMing him to find out if he did it himself & how!

If the alarm comes with the function its piss easy if it doesnt i think i can still do it but i need to have a look.

As for constant power windows ill do a DIY as soon as turbo is done

I have a boomerang alarm system latest version
my mates Skyline does it on his so i dont think it should not be a problem

Its all about timing really. I probably wont get a chance till after the new year, if you can wait that long.

Also if you send me a copy of the wiring instructions for your alarm that would help tremendously

Yeah, I had a shot at the mirrors and failed. Didnt try the more complex circuit in the DIY though, so was probably that. Plus I wanted to wire the mirrors to the acc, not the alarm

I think a relay should solve our problems
wire everything to the relay output and power to input from alarm
so once you alarm the car it would send a signal to activate everything.
that is my summary! but to put it in action hmmmm
whos an electrical Engineer here?

just take it to an alarm installation shop and let them do it for you ... before you try it and lead to bigger problems
