Removing old stickers

Post by markj »

I've just got some replacement stickers for some of the old damaged ones. Anyone know the best method for removing the old ones and how to clean off any glue residues that may be left behind?

Boiling hot water works well on some stickers. Just pour it over should heat up the glue then just pull off. And ecualiptus (sp?) oil works well in removing the residue.

Depends on where the stickers are - on paint or on your windows.

I used a combination of hot day (sun softened the glue) and my hairdryer.

Removing the residue:-
On the paint, I did a cut-polish
On the glass I used alcohol swabs

Be careful with Eucalyptus oil as it can damage some surfaces.

(and ditto I8A4RE - All normal disclaimers apply :D )

I usually use Prepsol ... Or Oil & Grease remover ... It dissolves the glue residue so you can peel it off... Prepsol is what spray painters use to get rid of pin stripes, stickers, decals, and clean the area on the car prior to painting...

Didn't need a hair dryer, a hot day, or anything else ... On the DIY Day, Kaz and Mizfto had success with a hair dryer and turps + a rag.... think they got off the Mitsubishi, the GR, and some stickers on the back window....

None.

Removing the MIVEC badge results in your FTO setting itself on fire.
