Getting a few things taken care on my car on the 11th and these are the quotes i got from the same place about it... was just wondering if i was getting ripped off or not!

Service Auto - $60 Labour, $110 Fluid (includes flushing)
Change Sparkies + leads - $60-100 Labour, Part already bought
Replace CV Boots - $80 Labour, $27.50 for each aftermarket one. Brand is Motogear... anyone heard of this? are they any good?
(Maybe) Adjust Tappets - $400 Labour, $250 Parts...
Now im abit sus with the tappets costing that much...
and is there any parts that need replacing when doing in to a GPX?
cos i thought they only needed to be adjusted....

hey where about you getting it done. i just got mine back and Eurotech in northhobart are awesome. the owner rallies a Evo 9 and loves Mitsubishi cars. He really know his stuff.

How cv are you getting done? A bit on the high side if its only one but not a total ripp off.

Now i have never done tappets on a fto but from what i have read and IIRC, they only part you "MAY" need is an intake gasket and thats if you break it when taking it off. Intake gasket wouldnt cost any where near $250. A little sus on that

Nah, there's that little plastic collet that sits around the tappet head - they quite often break off. Not expensive, but can be hard to source.

Cost me $195 for an automatic transmission service, which included flushing, oil, filter and labour.

As for the CV boots, I had mine done with my engine change. I was charged $12 each for them.

Just remember that if they are doing it correctly then your up for 2 rocker cover gaskets as well as the manifold gasket. And I got quoted about $60 each for the rocker cover gaskets.

$110 for oil change?? What oil are they using? If its for both engine and transmission oil it still wouldnt cost so much. Bit sus on it. My mech uses castrol magnetic and im payin only 45 bucks for the oil and 70 for the labour.

im getting mine done at autocraft on collins st cos thats where it was previously serviced... no one has said a bad thing about them but they are a bit pricey!

yeah i thought the tappets were a bit sus as well this is what he wrote in the email...

tappets job: it is a huge one and from memory the
replacement inlet manifold gaskets, washers etc are about $250 on their own,
plus about $400 in labour


so um yeah...
oh and just emailed them about brand of oil and its only for the auto not the engine

EDIT: Just got their email back and they said they're using Motul Dextron3

Tappets sound about right.........

Autocraft are probably expecting the worst after having mine and DanXbix's in there.

In my case they hade to replace some seals, some little plastic collars and a couple of other bits that don't come to mind in the top end when I had it done the first time around.

Better to under promise and over deliver than the other way around.

Mind you, I don't need to go there any more.
