Neons?
did you have them on at the time?
if not, they cannot defect you for them.

Carbon fibre bonnet - they cannot defect you for that..
why in the f**k did they defect you for it? it doesn't have any sharp edges or anything..
i wouldn't take it off either. that looks hot. f**k the police.

trimmed number plate?
Yeah. just pay the extra $50 a year and get the euro style ones or something, or just don't trim them.

Yeah they pulled me over, the neons wernt on, plates were trimmed by previous owner and they did full body check and skitzed it when they saw the hood. . . . they wanted me in court but i talked my way out of it. . . but still copped $250 worth of fines

Next time they do that, laugh at them and tell them to take you to court.

the carbon firbe bonnet is fully legal (judging by the quality look, it's approved), the neons are fully legal when not on, the only thing they could have got you for is the plates.
if they want to take you to court on a count of the previous owner trimming the plates, let the idiots try.

after they fail and you win, sue them for damages and turbo your FTO with the money you just made.

Yes but that looks like a high quality style one which should be ADR apporvable if you had the effort.
depending on the quality, it should have crumple 'segments'.
i know most of the ones with ADR approval usually have a 10x10cm-15x15cm zone in which its edges are weakened..this allows it to have a sort of crumple zone so that no big segements can fly off. (at least, not big enough to do damage to anything/one).

I would pay the fine, get new plates, then get an ADR sticker and slap it on the bottom of the bonnet.
that should keep the bacon off your back.

yeahh this hood was imported from USA to make it look like an aston martin replica, pretty sexc , and yes it does have grooves underneath which allow it to crumple in case of a crash. . . . where should i take this to get ADR approval ??? QLD transport or . . . ?

Nice ride...havent seen it before...and im pretty sure carbon hoods are illegal...they dont crumble up in accidents and a result fall off and can slice people. The neons are not illegal if they are not on. Im not sure about no plates.

f*kn coppers keep hassling us fto owners!

your car is looking beasty mate. I think sam had the same problem with the hood, too much trouble so he sold it off. I've done some asking around (well in nsw at least) and a mate whos a cop says most officers are ill-informed about cf bonnets. Some let you off and some give you crap, but he said if its a more extreme style of cf bonnet then you'll most probly get a fine or defect notice.

aye what skirts are those?

Okay mate, from what I know about what happens up here.

The CF bonnet, you can't get ADR approved. They have to be approved when built, but I think even though they won't be able to defect you with a ADR approved one they'll still hassle you, been something they've cracked down on for a long time. There is a company based in Brissie that makes ADR approved CF stuff but I haven't heard of anyone getting a FTO bonnet made through them.

The neons are also defectable up here if they can be seen hanging from the outside of the car, basically if they aren't way up out of the way so cops can't see them you'll probably get done for them. I8FRE, has neons I think and hasn't had any problems I don't think. So maybe talk to him about what you can do.

On the plate front and mod to a plate will be an instant defectable item. Mate, just a tip, you'd want to be getting this stuff sorted. We have bull laws up here that will allow a cop to impound your car if your caught with a defect again. I think it's 4 times and they confiscate it permamantly. You sound like you should be right if you get those things sorted though as you talked your way out of court this time so I'm not sure if it counts.

Hope you sort your issues mate.

Err... No.

There is no such thing as a Legal CF Bonnet. The cop has every right to give you a defect notice for it.

If you had a fibreglass bonnet then you'd substantially lower your chances of being defected but CF can be spotted a mile away. Reasons are, if you had a crash or hit a pedastrian, it'd crumble under the weight. Or well, it might fly off your car and take somebody's arm out

To the OP - Sorry to hear about the defect. Just be aware that the cop didn't do anything wrong. He just didn't let you off like some "nicer" cops would do.
I have to work - People on the dole depend on me.

do u reckon if u had one of those cf bonnets sprayed black on a black car, that u'd get into as much trouble?

I mean im pretty sure they can just tap it and then they'd no. but if they couldn't see it was cf driving past do u think they would bother to pull u over to check...

Or even if they pulled u over for something else do u reckon anyone would check?

OmEs- bad luck with the defects... btw the car looks awesome

^^^^^^agree totally with subbie and rally.

As for neons. The QLD law states that they cannot be blue in colour or distracting........and thats were they get you, with the "distracting" part . It is up to the cops discreation. However, fining you, when they are not even on is, Bullshit. They only way they could do that is if they classified them as a dangerous appendage/fitting, What does the fine actually say in regards to this?
