some new rims

Post by khunjeng »

I wanted a new set of rims and tyres, a more stock look with a bit of dish.

Lenso D1R, +33 Offset, 17x8" with 225 Federal 595s tyres.

I am going to check the place out to see what other rims they have as Arncliffe is like 5 mins from my work.

so what is the total weight of rim and tyres?

they look neat!
but one question to you guys. do you actually put the type of material and weight of the rims into consideration when buying rims among other stuffs like brand, cost, size and color.

Yeah. In particular I wanted a rim that wasnt too expensive for my FTO that was lightweight as I already have a set of work and rays rims for my r33 which were not cheap.

These rims are only 17x7s are 7.9Kg each, which was fairly obvious when I was transporting these, for the money they were a good choice between weight, cost and style and thats why i go them.

So a tad over 8kg for 17x8 is really light btw...esp for the price I paid which was just over 1k.

8kg's for the rims is great
and as khunjeng said yes you should look at all those things when getting new rims as less weight = more power under the power to weight setup.

and more weight at the front wheels = more traction

18" chrome rims ftw!

You can't be serious, I was looking at the shadow version of those as for my new wheels and was looking at this thread for ideas on fitments. I think the Kaos only comes in 18's so they're out for me sadly. Nice all round setup KJ, light and with good shoes.

How much were those 595's KJ btw?

$600 for all 4! SS595...http://www.accessauto.com.au/ they are in melb and only do pickup, but awsome prices on Federals.

a bit noisy initially until they get warm but have sh*t loads of grip I have found..good if your into taking corners hard.

I already get some kind of rubbing on my 17's with low tread, I can't imagine what 18's are gonna do to the poor thing.
thanks for the info KJ.
