hey guys when i rev the car when drive alone their is this whining noise that gets louder the more i rev the car. So when i accelerate it gets louder and louder then take my foot off the accelerator it gets quieter and quieter. My mechanic reckons it is one of the bearing going in one of the pulleys, he reckons it is the bottom one anybody got any idea
thanks mitch

I used to have a whining noise when I was revving my previous car.
Eventually worked out it was coming from the passenger seat.
Got a divorce and haven't had any problems since...

This just started on mine last week... hoping that changing the 2 belts tomorrow will solve it.
If not then yeah, will be looking into the pullies!

Ay, i'd agree it's the pulleys or some sort of bearing/tensioner along any belt path. Slight chance it may be a belt making the noise but not likely.

Not really a squeal, more of a high pitched whine, not very loud. Bearings are more likely I spose.
Dropping her into the local Mitsi garage tomorrow - no time to do it myself! Will let you know...

All nice and non-whiney now. Plus my aircon's chucking out a lot more cold air!

mine isnt affected by the engine revving in neutral...if it did whine with the engine revving i would have suspected interference from the alternator

too bad the mivec and limited space makes it ALMOST impossible to have a bolt on supercharger... unless you happen to have very very deep pockets
