Anyone know anything about utes?

Post by Lawso »

It's lawsochap asking more questions about cars, and related stuffs...

i've come to realise that my dream of owning an fto will not come about very soon, as my music life requires a car that will transport amps, a drum kit, guitars, and all that kind of stuff. i came across this ute the other day, and i think that it would be a good option considering my circumstances, it just needs a canopy. it runs on lpg, its a manual, has some mods on it, and has heaps of features, blah blah blah...

http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/FOR ... ?State=NSW

i guess i'm just searching for advice on what kind of car, ute whatever to buy to cart heaps of crap around for relitively cheap, and when not carting crap around what kind of vehicle would be most suited.

i'd be more than happy to grab that fto ute off dstocks if it pulls through though :D

pulling this thread back from the dead :lol:

have decided on a holden commodore VY S commodore 4 speed automatic. it has a 3.8L v6.

interested in this one in particular

    http://carsales.com.au/used-cars/privat ... ake=HOLDEN

JESUS CHRIST THATS A LONG LINK!!!
    sorry about that one

i guess the question i'm asking now is if anyone knows much about this model, i've done some research and have heard good things about them. so if anyone has any info, or has driven one, or knows about them that would be absolutely brilliant. even better if you post it :D

the price seems quite good for the k's its done, it has a few mods, and if i sell my car i'd get the money for that easy. money isn't the issue, just the more knowledge i can get about this car the better.

    thanks heaps

I would steer away from the 4 speed autos.
sure, they have a good engine, but the 4 speed makes it feel gutless as hell.

hey man good ks but the price is steep for a vy ive driven a few of em they're all right but that auto is a shocker and really that engine has been used since the vs commo's back in 97,if i were you asuming you have max 18k to spend id get the BA xr6 ute theres a few on there under 18, the auto in them are the MK 2 tiptronics and they're great! shifts up instantly also that engine has got some tittie! been driving one for the past couple of weeks real solid car rate it over the commo.
    heres a couple i found.

utes get roots, thats better than fto's getting ho's, coz you still have to pay for the ho

i can't quit music, its a passion, and i love it. when i get photos of my bands last gig up i'll post them if any one is interested. it was a school gig, but still, we were the only act that didn't get sympathy applause  no joke :!:

and this is my equation for life

music = fun = passion = moneys = purchasing fto

so it is top of the list!

thanks to chonga for finding those xr6 utes, and the advice on the vy's. i know holden was s**t  . i might take a look at them after hsc is over. yay for engines with titties :D

2.5L V6 twin turbo AWD wagon. Has the same AYC goodies as an Evo, so it handles pretty well.

Bennoz, and nvr2low, and I8A4RE, and jonowong, and who knows who else are using the engine from this car to transplant into their FTOs.
