Had another car inspected....

Post by Guni_GuGu »

Had another FTO inspected today....

Basically it's a 95 Manual Silver FTO (What I was after) but it comes with a catch....

The car had a bit of a ding in the front, with the front radioator support being removed, and replaced. There's a bit of minor surface rust near the rewelded areas... and the front passenger headlamp has been perimter had been cracked and misshapen. The clutch is not slipping, but the inspector said she might go soon, in the next 6-12 months...

The engine is going to need to partial disassembly, to repair all the oil leaks from the rocker covers, timing case, head base, main seals, etc...

Oh, the pod is extremely filthy, and prolly needs replacement too, and radiator hoses is clearly leaking of thermostat.

Still, it's fairly cheep...

but I am able to get that sweet looking blue car from ebay for 22.5... but theres 7grand difference there, and i havn't even bothered to get the blue one inspected... it would likely have some sort of problems.....

unfortunately you will find problems with all cars as they are used cars, you need to decide what problems you are prepared to accept with the.

minor oil leaks are very common with the FTO and present no real problem.

Clutches well all clutches have to be replaced sooner or later

been in a accident: many have.

minor rust, well its easy to fix

not trying to convince you on any car just stating an opinion

Yup, but the oil leak is spose to be quite severe....

If I do purchase it, do you think it would be wise to fly up to sydney and drive back?

well as the owner of the car in question i believe i have a right to respond to this.

i didnt know about the minor accident but that doesnt bother me much. ive had it for 4 years now and nothings gone wrong with the repairs.

oil leak are VERY common especially in mitsubishi's. Theres been a leak in the car since i got it and theres still a leak today. its been serviced by 3 different mechanics and they have all said its no major problem. the mat under my car has only a few drops on it.

pods are cheap.

radiator hose is leaking around the clamp. no biggie, a new clamp should fix her up

the nrma guy said the clutch is still good but the svc guy says on his report its going to go soon? i was in the car with the svc guy while he was driving and he said the clutch is still good.... ill let you know if it dies in 6-12 months.

The car is 9 years old you cant expect a problem free car.

The cars no longer for sale now anyway. i know the car is good and im more than happy to keep it.

True, but EVERY SINGLE CAR or EVEN FTO (i've litterally looked at maybe 20-30 fto's for sale) they've come down on their price! EVERY TIME! Without fail...

Hell, if one out of every 50 cars for sale, the guy, is heart set on a price, and any offer less is taken as an insult, well, i'd more then content to insult every car seller.

I find it odd that you've looked at 20-30 FTOs and you can't find one that you're happy with :?
