I don't go off on a tangent and brag about sh*t ... So back up ... Forums are meant to be her to help people, not just try to pay out on them ...

Owwwkay...

Moving right along, the tech info so far has been good.

I've found out the hard way what hot air does in the intake area. Having a GR with the MAF sensor right near the intake, the consequences of hot air near the intake have caused me no end of idle problems. Took me 12 months to figure out why the car stalled at idle in regular intervals... when the thermo fans kicked in the hot was being channeled thru a gap in my air box, the MAF picked it up & decided to tell the ECU to slow the fuel injection to match the non-dense air going in....

Thats the biggest cause of hot air in the engine bay behind the exhaust, the thermo fans...

Well ...

Thanks Payaya & Bennoz for the useful information ... Bennoz, I think I am going to have a close look at your set up if we get to meet on one of the NSW cruises ...

And well, seems like there is a lot of hot air getting around, and not just in my engine bay ...

Rather than start a new topic i figured i might aswell dig up my original thread........

As you can see from the photos below ( sorry about the size ) ive upgraded from
the ghetto intake at the start of the thread to a K&N Apollo....... and as with any new
Mod i can feel all the extra ponies galloping under the hood ....... which as always is probably all in my head

Its connected to the back of the encloser after the filter..... have a look at the last 2 photos and you should be able to see the black tubing heading towards the vent valve :)
