went to start the car today and when I turned the key to 'on' a ticking noise started from behind the glove box. I took the glove box out and felt around to find out what it was and took a picture of it. It is the black box shown below. any help as to why it would be ticking would be good. thanks
It happens when it fan/aircon is off and when it is on, but when I change it to fresh air it stops. Tried swapping between fresh and recirculated a few times but it didn't stop it
As I said above, I'm pretty confident your problem is the aircon unit; the internal part that changes between fresh / recirculated air is on it's way out?
Hi, I just sorted the exact same problem. It is the electrical motor that opens and closes the fresh air duct (fresh to recirc). I pulled the motor out, opened it up, cleaned it with CRC and re-greased the plastic cogs with white grease. There were one or two teeth chewed due to the constant "clicking", but careful alignment to ensure these missing teeth don't touch any teeth from the driving gear solved that. Clicking has now completely stopped in my bitch!
