How long it took you to get your FTO

Post by FTO338 »

After reading few other post from newbies, it would be interesting to know how long it took for members in the forum to get there FTO, from the day you decided to get one & the day you actually pick it up.

Well it took me 2wks, funny enough the original one i was going to get was sold 2mins before i got to the importer & i already told him to put it on hold, so he end up selling me his own collection one for cheaper price. :D

well...
my 'shopping time' was 2 days
trip to sydney, look at dealers, test drive car=day1
deposit over phone next morning=day 2

with imports i think its just luck, and ime yet to regret mine, having not found a single flaw in the 12mths ive had it so far

though it took me a while from day 1, spotting a silver fto in front of me driving home, thinking what is that, its nice, to actually deciding to buy a new car, couple of months

Around 5 weeks, but 2 of those weeks was me playing hardball with the seller. I got him down from $16,500 to $14,750 for a '95 GPX :D

took me 6mths of searching at dealer yards, which i then gave up so i resorted to importing one myself and so it took me 3 mths of searching the auctions in Japan, then another 3 months for the car to be registered on the road, so yeah it took me nearly a year after decision! :?

it was well worth it though'...

2 weeks to look around and get more info and then another 1 month before it arrived.

Mikey try finding a yellow one five years ago cos there was only a single one that was registered in vic back then.

i was actually test driving skylines with a mate all day, and we went to this palce in nunawading, and we thought "ok lets see how many different cars we can test for the day and who can get the fastest car" ... eventually we got in a fto and i loved it! it was a type r and priced at 31large! , i wasnt even looking for a car, (had a lancer for only 8months) but thought id investigate.

When i learnt that insurance was almost identical, i loked up prices, drove a few more and then a mate imported a skyline i strarted looking at importing a FTO.

After night after night of staying up for the japan auctions i finally bid on a few cars and lost..... then one a fto with a type r kit etc, when they sent through the pics i was like ITS A GR! it was apparently the GP sportspack... i had sent through my money already! and complained that i wanted mivec.... they apologisd refuneded me and wore the costs! luky!

i got my gpx on auction the next day and waited 6 weeks for it to arrive..
the whole process took maybe 6 months... and the day i picked it up from tulla was scary! glad i did it though

i was looking around for like 2 months but when my mates asked me to test drive cars one day, i was a bit hesitant and not in the mood. Ended up test driving 1 anyway and fell in love with it! Put a deposit the same day and bought it all the next day!.....ya'll shouldve seen my dad's face when he saw it! "who's car's that at the front!??"
hahahhah!

Lol!! OMG!! Too true!! I've been searching for what, 4months now? You can't even import em anymore... and who wants the punch line, I DON'T EVEN HAVE a car to drive now...

I'm dependant on friends and family to get places, i've been searching for my primary car (FTO) for months, and i've really truley badly needed one...

I guess, one positive is, I won't settle for garbage :p
