Lancer Police Cars?
Was cruising over to the shops today, and saw a new Lancer go past the other way fully kitted out in NSW police livery.
Just wondering, does anyone know whether they are using these as general duties, or HWP? Mainly, do they have radar fitted?

So all the people that try to run in small/compact cars are easy to catch.tippin9 wrote:so why do they have hummer police cars in victoria?nikhan wrote:Im not surprised really...they need these cars to catch those souped up cars esp those racing. you need these jap cars for high speed chasing on cornerings. In singapore they use WRX's and in Italy the lamboghini as HWP
they just drive over them.
And yeah..they're not EVO's.
They're just basic front wheel drive lancer..

Yes, nikhan I think you're off the mark.
The police have been under pressure for years because high speed chases are considered to be too dangerous, and it is considered 'safer' to let people get away if certain speeds are exceeded.
These days, cars like Evo 10s are in the fleet for the same reason as Hummers are; they're on demo from car manufacturers, and they are used to raise the profile of both the police force and that car manufacturer... but they only do general duties. Saying that they'd use the Evo 10 for HWP is like saying they'd use the Hummer for riot control... it'd do the job perfectly, but I doubt it'd happen!

Hmm, when people say things like that to me, I have to laugh.tippin9 wrote:ive seen undercover (and full done up) wrx's, supras, evo 7's and rx7's. Mostly around the bankstown area
You can't really have a 'full done up' import that is all legal / complied, and the police themselves wouldn't want to get caught by other police with illegally modified cars...
so which are you saying; that they're not actually 'full done up', that perhaps police weren't in fact driving them... or perhaps that you like to embellish stories somewhat?
