Had a look at this one yesterday

Post by bilbojo »

So i travlled the 4 hours to sydney and back from newcastle yesterday to have a look at this fto.

For starters its not a 2000 model its a 99' model, alloys have not been looked after and are completely scratched up. I must say that the interior was very very tidy besides the fact there was no stereo, the seller said he'd put 1 in. All front, back, left and right corners of the body had wear and tare marks. suspension needed to be adjusted and was very creeky. steering column made scrapping noise as i turned, could have been that there was no power steering fluid.

All and all i would have to give it a 6 out of 10.

Back to the drawing board for me.

yeh from about 97 onwards, preferably 99' or 00', or even considering spending a little more and getting me a 350z. we shall see how the fto hunt goes first though.

did you bother taking it for a spin?

it looks fresh from the docks, all the panels from the pics look straight and seem to line up in the front and rear, he's got coilovers and an arc intake pipe and a bit of more work done in engine bay.

    is this guy an importer?
don't worry too much about the head unit, cos the ones from japan don't work here in Aus

350z is fugly man! That butt just makes me wanna puke...

That fto looks pretty good. The extras it comes with are very nice and quite rare. Good year, model, transmission type, colour and km's (if it's not wound back lol).

What did you mean by the car having wear and tear on all four corners ? Fwiw, most FTOs don't have their bumpers lined up properly. On older cars, minor fender benders and whatnot are pretty much to be expected...long as the chassis itself is ok.

if she checked out i would definately buy that one, i was looking for a 97 onwards and soo keen on manual had to settle for 97 GPX tips, from memory i think there were only approx 1000 1999 FTos made, decent price too, considering manual and 1999,

Haha thanks for the correction, yeah i checked out the manufacturing numbers got em off wikipedia a while ago, that seems so few, considering there would be thousands and thousands of skylines wrx etc, ive got a 97 gpx i think only 2000 of them where made, sweett :D

btw, i found out the bad side of having rare cars, like when parts go in your gearbox, ouch x 10, hard to find and get, very pricey too,
