Hi mate,

Not heard from you in a while over on ftooc so thought id pop in and see how the car is going?

Got your new engine sorted yet? or any times so far on the temp engine 8) ?

Little FTEVO ran down at SantaPod drag strip in England last month. Still not got her mapped so boost was stuck at a lowly 0.9bar. Managed a 13.6 @108mph though so im happy for now as it was a very slippery track.

Did manage to break the damn thing on the way home though, but its in the process of being sorted. Managed to fit a twin plate clutch, can give you more details if thats of any help, though its only rated to 500bhp or so, or have you managed to source a suitable clutch already?

it was rolling roaded at 270bhp however the road was using new software which seemed to have power down by 10-15bhp. Once ive sorted the problems with the car i should with any luck be sitting just past 300 at the fly and 240 at the wheels.

240hp at the front wheels sounds about right for the 13.6s qtr mile pass... i reckon if you used some semi slicks, LSD and extensive weight-removal should see you doing low 13s easily... Nice effort champ - good luck with it all! :D

ive got the lsd, but traction was terrible all through the day. Apparently due to it being about 3dgrees before wind chill outside the track never got into the good grip zone... lol. Im pretty sure some semi slicks will knock about .2-.3 seconds off the time, my best 60' time was 2.49 seconds, nothing special there and i was wheelspinning going into 3rd on most runs too  Im altering the suspension over the coming weeks too and sorting out a few other tweaks to improve traction and reduce weight. Ideally id like a sub 13 second run however i think this year I will have to settle for mid 13's as I don't have the money for the rebuild to take 1.5bar boost.

Its all fun and games though, just a bit expensive on the pocket at times :?

yeah, best to get your traction issues sorted first before winding in more boost, otherwise you'll be wheelspinning all the way to the finish line LoL...

what sort of LSD have you got? is it a 1.5-way or fully locked?

i am currently using a custom made twin plate clutch, but that didnt hold and let go at 1800 lb tractive effort and 372 Hp at the wheels

been trying to source a suitable triple plate that will fit. big problem is the room in the fto gearbox, so far they are all to big.

If cant get a clutch to hold will have to change it to an auto.

what gearbox are you using, FTO or EVO

danny, Ive got a custom made bellhousing. though even with that I can only just fit in a twinplate clutch. I doubt the fto box would fit a triple without spacing out the bellhousing which then causes too many other problems to make it viable id think.

do you think the 5 speed tip box is up to the job? We are looking into that at the moment for a medium power car at the moment, though nowheree near your figures.

According to OS Giken the twin plate I have is good for 500bhp, possibly may hold though you'd be on the limit of the clutch.

wouldnt be any good as once i do the internals will be pushing the boost up to 2 bar so should be getting over 500 Hp at the fly wheel

looking at one particular clutch that would fit and do the job but it will cost 7000AUD could build a very strong auto for that and the auto will give me better times.

will have to wait and see, will be modifying the clutch over the coming weeks and will see if the extra clamping force helps.

clutches are expensive aint they! Luckily genrally once the initial purchase has been made its just the friction plates that go so not so bad for ongoing costs.

How goes the forged internal engine? Almost finished yet? Its a long way off for me, maybe next year, though to be honest im more than happy with 300bhp at the moment.

3 to 4 months for the good engine.

and the clutch i am looking at will cost 7000 each time as you cant by the plates seperately, hoping the price will drop as the technolgy becomes more widely used over the coming years and other manufactures start to use it.

well 300 at the wheels is OK but 400 is much more fun
