Ball Joints

Post by hawk7 »

Hey Guys

I just went for a rego check and the guy told me that i need a new ball joint for the front drivers side and a passenger side wheel arch skirt.

Do any of you know a good place to buy these parts? I live in Wollongong but can get it picked up from Sydney.

Of course rego is comming up awfully fast and it will need to be fitted as soon as possible.

Thanks

I can probably help with the splash shield (wheel arch skirt). Will find out more in a day or so (grabbed 2 wrecks in the last 48 hrs). I can get the ball joints new, but it would take a couple of weeks to get here which probably doesnt fit within your time frame

I've not got CAPS on this laptop, but are the ball joints common to any other Mitsi's? Might be able to buy them local from Mitsubishi if they are..

I havent had too much luck with my local mitsubishi who tell us they have to import them and it could take some weeks which would leave my car without rego :(

If you need one in a hurry to get you through a rego check then try some wreckers

Hmmm, CAPS doesnt break down far enough. Only gives you the control arm with ball joint on it

I dont know if i can get another control arm but if you would like me to try let me know. Postage however will also be quite a lot but it shouldnt be anywhere near $400. Dstocks may even have one from his wrecks

Yeah, I think the ball joint on the control arm is fixed & cant be replaced- ie the whole arm needs to be swapped. Thats ok, control arms are actually very light because they are hollow. You'll need to get your off & get us some pics so we can lead you in the right direction to get a another one, because there are 3 different types. As mentioned, dstocks has probably got a couple of them.
