My air con is working but it doesn't pumping the cold air.
Is there anyone know what the problem is?
Someone told me that I have to regas.
Is that right?
yep, you'll definitely have to regas... I've never had to do this before so I wouldn't know about the costs involved but yeah your problem sounds like the aircond needs to be re-gassed.
Should be around $70 from any mechanic who got the re-gas machine!

The only way way to find out if theres a leak in your a/c system is to get it re-gassed.
The mechanic should put a blue dye in the gas so they can tell later on if there is a leak. they have those funky scientific glasses so they can see the dye...if your system is leaking
A re-gas should costs about 80 bucks...
Just hope that one of your pipes dont have a leak...
mm when i got mine re-gassed i was told to put a new aircon filter in there, and every 2nd time i get it re-gassed i should change the filter.
Otherwise if you leave the normal filter it can cause major problems with your air-con at later dates.
Well, thats what i was told, and 80bux to re-gas and 160$ when changing the filter and re-gas

It's an air conditioning system mate!
Any place that does aircon will do a bangup job on your car, it's not that hard to connect a cylinder to your aircon line, drain it and refill it
Repeat after me folks "The FTO is not a unique car that can only have specialist places to do things like this to it"
I have mine regased last week,
it costed me $100.
It's working fine and very cold
now, but just don't know what's
the different between E-Con and
just con.
ECON is the "economy" mode where the air conditioning unit is not always in use, even though air may still be blowing via the fan. It automatically switches the air con on and off based on the temperature differential and what the engine is doing to minimise the impact on your fuel economy - hence "economy" mode.
When in full air con mode, it is blowing cooled air all the time, when in the econ mode, although it blows air consistantly it only send chilled air through in bursts, as the air con unit kicks in and out.
My FTO has done 86,000k and my air con's gonna cost me around 2k to fix. Condensor, pipes, evaporator. Everything's f!@ked. They re-gassed it for a carton of tooheys new. Should get me through summer.

Hey Jase, shop around... I was quoted $2k to fix my air by one place while another could get me a brand new condensor from Mitsu Japan for $450-500. Then the cost of fitting and regassing working out a heluva lot cheaper than $2k. I hate to say this but when you rock up to some places to have your FTO fixed the mechanics seem to see $$$$$$ signs going off behind their eyes. You can pick up second hand condensors from Jap wreckers (cant tell you any in QLD maybe someone else can) I got mine with hoses for $250. The only thing you cant get new is the discharge hoses that come out from either side of the condensor, so you will have to get them second hand ( I have a set - but they are the least of your worries at the moment) Exactly what is wrong with your aircon that would warrent having to buy every concevable part for it. Usually only one or two parts need replacing not the whole damn lot. Methinks you may be being screwed!
