How much HP will the RPW turbo kits produce?
How much would it cost including labour?
Could it handle a tip gear box?
Will I need to change any parts of my engine to accommedate the turbo?
those poofs wont tell me i email them so many times n yet no answer.
the RPW kit has not been released yet, therefore pricing and info is very scarce to say the least... it's anybody's guess at this moment. my dodgy guesstimation would be to pick a number between 15-20, then multiply it by 10 (then add or minus 5% or so if you want) to get your flywheel HP figure... i repeat this is based on my dodgy estimates only - so don't flame me. as for labour, well i suppose that depends on which workshop you go to as well...
the tip box should be able to survive the extra load, because scracy has a turbo on his tip GPX and it's been working like a dream so far... i don't envisage any problems with the RPW kit, though i would highly recommend a transmission oil cooler if you want the gearbox to last long...
i believe the RPW turbo comes in a kit, therefore it will have all the necessary parts (except the intercooler) for the conversion which includes the manifolds, turbo, fittings etc...
well, I've spoken to Dave from RPW several times about this kit and whilst he will not divulge too much on figures, based on what he's given me in terms of the set up, I'd estimate the HP at the wheels (not flywheel) will be around 185-hp (give or take 5%) for a tiptronic MIVEC...
don't take this biblical but IMO, for a tip gearbox i'd recommend a stronger torque convertor to cope with the extra load (as scracy learnt the hard way).
dunno, I don't have a torque convertor in my car (since it's a manual) so I never had to replace one... PM scracy - he's done it before, i think for a couple of hundered bucks or something...
Upgraded billet steel torque converter should cost around $330 excluding any labour costs for fitting and removal. And yeah Mikey i did learn the hard way!!!!!
