dont stress the boy out mate. no you dont have to report it in the first 24hrs.

bottom line is: if the accident happened while you are insured they technically cant decline you because of any time frame. they may be suss about why you left a total loss case for 6mths but if u have nothing to hide then u have nothing to worry about. if you leave it a few days before you rpt it to them, they should be fine, as long as by leaving it no extra dmg has been caused. just tell them that u were feeling sore and sorry for yourself.

yay for working in insurance

how many crashes have you had? lol
yeah as i said, it would be suss if you leave it for ages, but if you leave it for a couple of days and just say that you were feeling sore and sorry for yourself, then u'd get away with it.

you'll be suprised how long some people leave it.

with that said, rpting it asap is a good idea, if nothing else, you have the incident in your mind still so you dont accidentally tell them the wrong info because u've forgotten. :)

Sorry to hear.. but this is the problem with people who just got their license buying fto's or any sports cars, kinda get a bit carried away, but guess that's human nature and can't really be helped.
I am young (21) but i have been driving for a good 4 - 5 years now and i have been irresponsible in the past but not anymore.

I know i am not hugely experpierenced on the road compared to people who have spent more time there then me but i dont class myself as a begginer driver anymore.

In saying that i was told this has happened a few times where i crashed (bad road) but this crash was my fault and i take responsibility for it.

I miss my car, i had already managed to clock up 5000k since i bought it. :( :( :(

LOL what kinda theory is it that if you've had plenty of crashes your now a good driver lol

I've never been in a crash where I've been at fault, just 1 where I was rear ended while stationary :?

Damn that crash looks really bad, I can see the road in the background.. I can understand what you mean when you say it was a bad road. Think you'll be getting another FTO in the future?

How much for your side skirts. :P

Bad luck mate.Thats definately going to be a writeoff. Mine with damage to the front and sides was going to cost $8600 if I wasn't insured. Yours will be more. They will pay out up to 90% of the cost of the car though in repairs, but if you say you went in hard the chassis might have taken a beating.

Okay so initially I thought to myself 'sh*t, just another kid not respecting the car' which was wrong of me to judge, but we all do it.

Sublime, we usually see eye to eye, but in this case, from what mitch has said, he sounds like a someone who has 'been there and done that' and now sounds pretty well grounded so don't be too harsh.

Mitch, best news for you is that the car was comprehensively insured. it's not easy for young people to get insurance, so well done for having the foresight to pay up.
You'll never be able to replace the yellow beast, but hopefully you'll be able to get something different and just as good with the pay out :D

That really sucks. Had a beautiful colour and interior. Comprehensive insurance is a bitch to pay for but when you see things like this it makes me feel like the $1600 robbery i suffer every year is worth it. It really does suck for us young drivers who know how to drive and respect their car (im looking at VN drivers here) get pegged with high bills.

Ps im born in 87 so i know the looks you get when your young and drive an fto

Looks like a great white shark took a big bite out of your car.

To make you feel better I did this 2 weeks ago. I went in to the back of a L plater who manage to stop their car when trying to merge into 90km/h road on a lengthy on-ramp... FWD in front of me swerved right. I was behind him but at the time, I was looking to the right to merge in. What i did't know was there was that stationary L plater on the ramp in front of the FWD. I looked back, saw it, just braked hard as hell but couldn't stop in time. Hit the L Plater at around 30-40km per hour.

Good news is I got my car back yesterday. I'll post up After pics in a bit.

mitcheo, if you do get the car for parts, I would be interested in the skirts .... If they aren't damaged...
