Where does your vacuum gauge sit?

Post by Apothus »

Im suspecting i may have a leak in my exhaust system from a while back when i begrudgingly let some auto electricians touch it to replace my alternator.

Before it went in my inlet manifold vacuum sat at 60, idling with the airconditioner off. Now it sits at 55-50. Now im not sure if they have stuffed something up or fixed it so i though i would see where other peoples gauges sit

Also i should probably mention i have a modified exhaust system (installed before i had the car) its aprox 3 inches the whole way along with stainless muffler and tip

[edit: spelling :P]

vacuum gauges

Post by Apothus »

I should have probably outlined things a little better.

i Have 95 gpx with a vacuum and oil temp gauge(NC) in my stock gauge pod. I know there are a few others out there and was curious to see what they get.

From what i have heard there are a few different configs for those pods, clk, voltage etc that came stock with the car so i probably should have taken that into consideration.

so sitting at 50 isnt to bad then.

The part that makes no sense though is why would it have changed? the only reason i can think of is they didnt refit the exhaust properly or the old alternator was cuasing a problem meaning the original value of 60 indicated a problem. Although if it was the alternator that would be a considerable increase the power it is taking from the engine.

yeah 50 is cool as for why it changed dont know man. Have you moved, cause altitude will effect it as well eg up a mount etc
