Hmmm ... im not sure if its something do do with the wheel hubs or broken CV joints, but anyways whenever i do a turn above 40kms there will be noises like ... *riding a bike down some stares lol* or just *bup bup bup bup* noises (not squeaks)
The old owner said he had this FTO in his garage for about 5 years and he thinks its got something to do with the wheel hubs, but my uncle whos a semi-retired engine mechanic reckons its CV joints
Does anyone have an idea on whats happening? if soo how much would it roughly cost to replace / fix :

You may well also have a wheel bearing problem so would be wise to check them also

Yep CV's. Just get dstocks to keep an eye out for second hand driveshafts on Yahoo Japan. Its easier just to swap the whole lot out. I just swapped out Kazbahs at the last DIY day. It was a bit of an ass of a job, but really only took about 2 hours and a whole bunch of swearing. Think a couple of hundered price wize.
oh okay, thanks ben ... i would've believed if a mechanic said "oh you have worn out wheel hubs and broken bearings and cv joints needs replacing AND i didnt hear you coming into out garage ... your mivec isnt working too xD" haha bloody asian mechanics
but anyone else reckon it might be wheel hubs? coz the importer said the FTO sat in his garage for 5years+
There's nothing in a hub to break, apart from the wheel bearing. The hub is solid cast iron with a bearing pressed into it & thats it. If a wheel bearing goes, you tend to hear a whirring / humming noise. Usually only when you are at speed, like on a country road doing 100kmh.
CV joints tend to fail when the metal seats that all the ball bearing roll around in 'elastically deform'. Effectively enlarging the area where the ball sits, hence the balls 'pops' onto the newly created free space of its seat area when you are turning.
I have got one drive shaft at the moment, but its probably the wrong one. Has your car got ABS. The ABS driveshafts have a ring of cogs around them and are different from the non-abs ones. The one I have is non-abs. Cant remember if its drivers or passengers side though. All I remember is its the longer of the two.
Yeah the cars got LSD or whatever ... its GPvR from melb thats been imported over to aus and complied 5 years ago and never driven, im the first aussie owner of it ...
but for somewhat of a bargin (well if i compared it to the STOCK 96' GPX 91,xxx kms for $15490 AFTER LONG NEGOTIATING at edward lees) ... i was prepared for few minor faults with this GPvR. Hopefully the repairing of these wont be too much or else i cant register the car to RTA

I had similar problem recently.
Used a helluva long time to find out the problem.
After changing
- front and rear antirollbar bushes
- front and rear droplinks
all the noises are gone woopee
now it's as quiet as a lexus haha
try to drive slowly on unevenly road... where the left and right ride height of the car is not equal... if u hear noises... then u know wht to do
one way to try is to make the right hand side of your car climb up a small roundabout
oh alright i'll give that a test and see if theres still any noises after the mechanics fix it up. OH and the problem was wrong CV joint for drivers side + worn out / loose wheel hubs is what my uncles's "friends" garage said had to be fixed before i can register the dam car ... sooo i
got theses done for 794bucks (inc labour cost) ... is it fairly reasonable price or did i get ripped? and they swaped my 50% tread falken bla bla rear for some new bridgestone one. And the total was $794
(lol this fto now has 4 different brand tires ... potenza, falken, bridgestone, silverstone and to be honest it looks FUGLY up-close)
