Idle Issues

Post by Kates »

Hi All,

wondering if someone can help me out with some info, FTO recently went for a ride on a tow truck for Idle issues, rev's going through the roof each time the clutch was in. Stepper Motor was blamed for this, had it replaced this fixed the initial prob, however ever since it came back the idle has been fluctuating, its set to between 850-900rpm but while idleing the revs will drop quite low to the point where the car begins to shudder(almost stall) and then immediatley climbs to over 1000rpm settles and then goes again. I took it to Autocraft for the Stepper motor as this is where it had been getting serviced, so i figured why not they know the car and were pretty helpful when i called. when i collected it they did advise me that it had a "Slight Miss" when idleing but advised me that they wouldn't worry about it, but i wouldn't call this slight and i don't think its a miss! I have not a clue about cars, every workshop that i've driven into has absalutley no idea what the car is! (which doesn't compel me to leave it with them). anyways to get to the point I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what this might be so i'm not walking into somewhere having no clue at all as to what it may be. :?

TPS?, sounds similar to what tom is complaining about see.

Id be caustious of anyone that says to not worry about a slight miss.

I'd give it back to Autocraft. They've serviced just about every FTO in Tassy & I've not heard a bad word about them.

Slight miss could be a million things... spark plug or coil pack failing, fuel pump failing ro filter choked (not that I'd imagine that be the case on this car)

Its booked back in on thur for them to have a look see, my main concern is i know nothing about the car (Or any other car for that matter) and therefore nothing about the prob or what may cause it. They just seem a bit tight lipped with their info. They didn't mention the "Slight miss at Idle" until i read it on the repair docket and asked, and then i got told that they would't worry about it, when I asked what they thought it may be and a general price for getting them to have a look see i again got the answer I wouldn't worry about it. I dont have concerns about the car going there because obviously they have looked after it in the past and the previous owner reccomended them. But i'd like to get what i pay for and have my questions about probs they find answered, and i just cant seem to make this happen! :( If anyone knows of anywhere else that has serviced/Repaired FTO's in TAS i'd appreciate hearing about them so i have more than one option for having mine repaired!
