stereo, clock, interior lights not working and car resets

Post by ce33ee »

hi guys,

was wiring up the sub the other day, and shorted something
it was like *ZAP* and interior lights went out so did the stereo, clock etc.

checked out all the fuses nothing's blown. Other than that, the car keeps resetting itself, every time i start it up, it's like when you reset the ECU, so the aircon auto starts, car revs really high and odometer resets etc.
the alarm screwed up too and is driving me and my neighbours nuts, it sirens 5mins after i lock the car every time.

any ideas what the real problems are? i am absolutely clueless :(

thanks in advance!

The car is protesting having a heavy sub + box chucked in it. To fix, remove sub.

Seriously though - have you checked the fuses inside the car? They're located in the driver's footwell, directly underneath the bonnet open lever.

Also, check that all your wiring is ok - ie. not earthing anywhere it shouldn't, and so forth.

If worse comes to worse, the initial suggestion of removing the sub, and putting everything back the way it was original mightn't be such a bad one - if it fixes the problem, at least you know you haven't broken something permanently.

ooh yea i forgot to mention, yesterday i reverted everything back to the way it was before and those problems still exist.

Definitely not the fuses, have checked both under the bonnet and driver side. which is why i am so baffled!

thanks though :)

will give it to a professional in a few days if i can't resolve it

check the terminals on your battery are clean and done up tight, and that the battery itself is tied down securely

Yeah it has to be a fuse
